Ray Ray 3,566 Posted May 9, 2011 Of course, I've seen many zombie movies and some are decent while others are blah. Night of the Living Dead (both) are about as good as it gets as to what would really happen. So is Dawn of the Dead (both). Most others are a little far fetched but well done. And some are pretty bad. Let's see if I can get some reviews of zombie flicks and maybe we'll find some hidden treasures!
Malsua 1,422 Posted May 9, 2011 "28 days later" is awesome. "28 weeks later", not so much. "Shaun of the dead" is a British comedy movie but I still enjoyed it. "The Last man of Earth" is a must see so that you can understand how zombie movies became what they are today. Seriously, listen to George Romero, his whole idea behind Night of the Living Dead was to tell the story from normal to zombie infestation as depicted in Last Man on Earth. He wanted to film the transition. "Omega Man" Just for the guns and the fully stocked retreat. Of course, it's the same story as Last man. "I am Legend" is a 3rd telling of the same story. It was ok, but the alternate ending was better.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted May 9, 2011 "Zombie" absolutely horible, but I've watched it more than once "Return of the Living Dead" series. Not bad, no guns and zombies can't die unless they are shocked. And they have little comedy parts in them. "Resident Evil" Too many twists and not realistic enough. Giant zombies and stuff, never understood any of it. . bbk 188 Posted May 9, 2011 Fido - story of a boy and his zombie. I'm more into the "serious" zombie stuff, but, like Shaun of the Dead, I get a good kick out of this one every time. Zombieland - like the above, good for laughs. It does have that underlying tone of how humanity plays a part in the telling of a zombie story, but of course most of the appreciation comes in form of funny moments and "the rules." Duppie 73 Posted May 9, 2011 "Dead Snow" The world's only Norwegian Zombie movie.... You know the plot...Nubile girls and their expendable boyfriends go to remote ski cabin only to encounter an grizzly alcoholic hunter who has tales of Zombie Nazis searching for lost jewelery stolen from them by cabin's owner. gallons of blood, miles of fresh entrails, and an occasional naked breast caps off a intentional? zombie farce and a somewhat successful? English translation of Norwegian cultural jokes. Sit back with some Sil on Rye and a cold Ringnes and enjoy...
ClangClang 14 Posted August 12, 2011 Not a movie, but the series Walking Dead on AMC is AMAZING. It's more gripping than watching early seasons of 24.
raz-0 1,259 Posted August 12, 2011 I'd have to say skip the last man on earth, omega man, and I am legend. Buy the collection of short stories by the same name. It is much, much better than any of those. It's also not in any way a zombie story. You will also find a lot of other stories in there that have been appropriated for the big and little screen with varying degrees of credit given to the author. My favorites Night of the living dead (both versions) dawn of the dead (both versions) day of the dead zombieland shawn of the dead the walking dead Evil dead 2 Army of Darkness The crazies (remake, also does it count?) Decent the crazies (ditto does it count) 28 days later 28 weeks later Return of the living dead 1-3 (borderline guilty pleasure, very) Pet Cemetery The b-17 segment of heavy metal. Dead alive DEathwatch Guilty pleasures The whole resident evil series, although #2 barely escaped being in the solidyly bad category by very, very little. Planet terror. Evil Dead Meh Night of the creeps Pet cemetery 2 Diary of the dead Bad Night of the comet Land of the dead My Boyfriend's back. Route 666 Surf II House of the dead

Malsua 1,422 Posted August 13, 2011 I'd have to say skip the last man on earth, omega man, and I am legend. Did you read my post? The last man on Earth was the inspiration for Romero's Night of the living dead and for that reason alone it's worth watching. Omega man and I am legend are the same story just brought to the screen differently. I liked Omega man because where else do you see someone drive around an abandoned LA and shoot automatic weapons into the buildings? As far as reading the books, of course but go back to the original Richard Matheson novel "I Am Legend" and you'll find it's somewhat different from any of the film adaptations. Who's seen Starship Troopers? Now who's read it? I have done both. I liked the movie. The book however is superb piece of science fiction and it's pretty apparent why they didn't follow the book. Each trooper in the book were like Iron Man in power and capability and the bugs were very much smarter and cunning opponents.

I too find it interesting how many people haven't read the book (or realized there was one). Heinlein's work is well respected, and, having a personal interest in science fiction, I definitely appreciate it that much more. Honestly, the book was one of the primary reasons why I ended up enlisting myself. To this day, still one of my favorite books, and I've probably read through it northward of a dozen times at least. Lalo 13 Posted November 26, 2012 Started watching "Exit Humanity" on Netflix the other day and I couldnt get past the 1st half hour. Even though it's a zombie flick, I thought the story and acting was lacking. I would say it's a PASS.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 26, 2012 Netflix has a bunch of wack-@ss zombie movies, although there are a few okay ones. The one in France is not bad, can't remember the name though.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 27, 2012 Le Horde. That's it, the soundtrack is this annoying French rap. Wow, and I thought some American rap was bad.
