Theoretical Uspsa Question For Those Currently Shooting, And Non Shooters

Open 10 Division

15 members have voted

  1. 1. If you are currently shooting USPSA, would an Open 10 division get you to step up to Open (from say Production, Limited 10, Single Stack, Revo)

  2. 2. If you are not shooting USPSA now... or not as much, would Open 10 division get youto try and shoot more matches.

  3. 3. For this Open 10 Division... Where would you get a gun for this?

    • Buy a new STI/SVI type gun. (race gun)
    • Modify my existing production or basic 1911 gun (new barrel, sight, etc)
    • Already shoot open and would just use different mags.

So was following a discussion on Enos forums about a theoretical division for uspsa. Open 10. Essentialy, what Limited 10 is to Limited, but a new division, where you can basically do anything to the gun, optics, compensators, grips, etc, however limited to 10 rounds.

So for those already shooting USPSA, would you shoot it? If not, why?

If you are not currently shooting USPSA, would you consider this division as you can essentially pimp out your production gun and can shoot it.

No need to spend $100 on an STI/SVI magazine, and you can be competitive while staying within NJ's stupid mag laws.

Link for those that want to chime in there too.

Shooting Production right now and looking to move up later on to Limited or Limited 10 (since we are in Jersey). Who knows, after Limited maybe the next step up after that will be Open. Again, this being Jersey, an Open 10 will give a level playing field for those who want to play.

playing gun games in this state in limited is next to impossible due to the playing field being nothing even resembling level. Everyone knows why so I dont need to get into it, but an Open 10 could definitely be cool.

No interest in going open because I don't have the budget for an open gun plus accessories.

I like using what I currently have.

I will say an open 10 division would level the playing field a bit because there are some who

comply with state law and use only 15 round mags and others who take the chance and use

higher cap mags.

your poll is broken. I shoot uspsa and wouldn't bother with open-10. Open is just too damn expensive for my taste. So I put NA in 2, but my answer for 3 would be I'm not spending a dime on anything open, not even magazines.

I like it, I didn't plan on shooting an open gun until my eyes started going but a L/10 Open gun might be a fun idea as an introduction.

It wouldn't get me to shoot more matches being I shoot as many as I can, but still not enough for my liking.

I would get a new gun, I think this would be a good excuse to get another, not like I need that, but I thing it sounds good.. :icon_mrgreen:

If anyone cares to see the Area 8 match here is a video of my mediocre performance this past Thursday.  Managed to get 212 Alphas, 7 Betas, 48 Charlies, 3 Deltas and unfortunately 5 Mikes.  At least no procedurals and no no-shoots.  Really did for crap on the first stage I shot (which was stage2), those doors did me in.  Had a heck of a time on the next to last stage I shot too, which was stage 14.  I'll tell you it was a grueling day.  Left the house at about 4:30am and did not get home till 8:30pm.

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
    • I get the added benefit that since I have a TSP rather than a true 401(k) they tax my retirement too. Yaaaay!
