It seems like Quibids and gunbroker had a baby.

You have to "buy" bids. As in you buy 20 bids, then can bid 20 times against people, except items only go up one cent at a time. So you might buy an M1A for $0.32, but you had to buy sixteen bids at whatever price each bid is. I am guessing $20

yep. I was actually quite shocked to see Buds get into that game. I guess they are expanding their business and creating another source of income as the manufacturers are putting the screws to their business practice.

It's basically gambling under the guise of an auction.

That's what it looks like to me. This is the first time I've seen this. I guess 100 people spend $20 in bids and somebody walks off with a a $300 scope for $40 while the auction and the seller split $2,040.

Are bids indeed roughly $1 a piece? Wow. How can I sell crap on there? It looks like I can't, I can only gamble my money. I didn't know I could get in the casino business so easily. I don't even have any Indian blood in me.

My wife's uncle stopped at a WaWa in Monroe on Applegarth Rd two days ago and this morning his account was drained of $1700. He reported it to the Monroe police and they said he was the 5th person today to file a report. They said there is an ATM scam ring installing very good card skimmers at WaWa ATMs in Central Jersey. They are doing it at WaWa because of the high usage they believe. No fees at these PNC Bank ATMs.

The skimmers are put in place and run for a day or maybe two then removed...then they move onto the next location.

For those that don't know what a skimmer is, its an electronic device attached to the card reader and usually an overlay on the key pad. The card data and key presses are logged in flash memory in the skimmer. Bad guys pick em up and make cards or execute transactions.

There are lots of variations of these devices. Here's a good article on them. Brian Krebs is a good cyber security info source.

      http://krebsonsecurity.com/all-about-skimmers/

These scum wads also place them at bank atms on weekends after closing and pick em up before the bank opens so bank employees don't see them.

So be alert at ATMs. You'll probably get the money back but it sucks when your mortgage check or ACH bounces.

Beware bogus ‘arrest warrants’ in the mail

      http://cliffviewpilot.com/beware-bogus-arrest-warrants-in-the-mail/

"PUBLIC SAFETY: Con artists have been mailing bogus arrest warrants to people in an attempt to swindle them out of money, acting New Jersey Attorney General John J. Hoffman warned this morning.

In addition to calling victims over the phone, scammers are mailing out the phony warrants that purport to be from state or federal authorities.

In one of them (above), the letterhead says that the “warrant” was issued by the U.S. District Court and claims that the target is charged with criminal violations — including “collateral check fraud” and “theft by deception” –and faces “a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of up to $24,000.

It then directs the target to pay an “outstanding balance” of $1,876.48, and to call a phone number with a 609 area code to arrange for a payment plan."

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
