Where to find AR Magazines

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I've been trying to search down any NJ legal magazines to purchase for my new M&P15T... But it's been hard to even find 10rd mags.

So I thought I would post this link to some I've found in stock. Last I checked, they only had about 17 left in stock and going very fast.

If you know of any other shops that have any mags in stock... please post.

It won't.

"No sales of 20rd magazines to NY, MA, CA, NJ, HI."

True... But I have a friend out of state willing to receive the shipment, and is ok with holding on to some mags until I can come and modify them to only accept 15 rounds or less.

Didn't know if anyone else out there from NJ could plan something similar. So I posted it anyway.

Were you able to order them? If you still cant get them I have 1 steel arms and ammo 15 rounder that i dont really use. It has maybe 4 mags worth of ammo thru it. If ya need an extra i will sell it for the $21 i paid for it. Located in toms river.

No one should have a new rifle and no mags to shoot it with, especially on christmas!

I've been asking myself this very same question for a week. I have thousands of mags on order which are all spoken for by NJ-based dealers. I'm trying to get them to you guys either direct through my webstore or through my dealer network. Hang in there!

Yeah I needed some mags and dragged my feet now I'm SOL... Wanted to get some FDE window pmags.

I ordered probably the last 15 round stubbies from MidwestPX last week. Everything else was sold out. I thought for sure my order would be cancelled but I got my UPS tracking number! Thanks Midwest! Glad to see you posting here.

if you ever moved to a free state would you be able to convert them back? Would save me a lot of money

I would assume for midwest's mags youd have to find a way to remove the roll pins at the base plate, remove the baseplate, the internal block, then replace the baseplate with a new one. (me thinks)

Not without damaging or destroying the magazine. The roll pin is just a visual indicator and not permanent "enough" in my opinion so there is a secondary method of keeping those baseplates on. I have yet to find a way to remove the baseplates on the long term test units I have here without having to cut, grind, torch, or shatter parts of the magazine.

The advice I give to people who are moving to a "free" state is, sell the mags using a local forum. Because the market isn't flooded with limited capacity mags, you can usually get most of your money back. I've heard from more than one customer who moved from NJ to a "free" state and actually got more for their mags than they paid me for them because someone saw them at the range and offered $25-$35ea for them.

Wow.. hadnt realized that the pins were just for show, but you are right...selling pinned mags that retail for 20-24 bucks to replace with standard mags that go for 11-15 each makes for a few extra mags out of the deal.

Well, not quite "just" for show. They do keep the baseplate on but they're very easy to mill/drill out. This is why I stay away from rivets too.

For those that are still looking for 10 round OEM Glock mags for their G17 or G19. Not retail boxed but brand new. Big Tex is GTG. Ordered them last time they were on sale.

So Im moving out of state and the law there says I can only have a MAXIMUM of 10 rounds in my magazine.  Problem is I have 4-6 15 round magazines for a Sig Sauer p226 9mm.  I called the Bullet Hole and Sig Sauer direct and they said they couldnt modify the magazine.  So my question is, what can I do with my current magazines: sell them and buy 10 round magazines or can they be modified?
      Thanks

As with most N.J. owners, the new law reducing max magazine capacity from 15 to 10 rounds affects me the most.  The question(s) I have concern the legality and practicality of reducing a magazine capacity to 10 rounds to be in compliance with the law.  Reading many forums and opinions I can't get a definitive strategy on how I can keep the 15 round mags I already own.  All mags accompanied handguns purchased in New Jersey.  Now I have less than 180 days to deal with them.  My current quandary:
Magazines must be permanently modified to limit them to 10 round capacities.  California forums seem to indicate that one can rivet, epoxy or weld a block to make a mag legal.  However the wording of the new N.J. statute gives me pause.  It says:
"The bill makes its provisions effective immediately, but allows for a 180-day grace period to transfer, render inoperable, or voluntarily surrender a semi-automatic rifle or magazine that will be unlawful under the bill."
Does "render inoperable" include reducing capacity to 10 rounds?  Is the high capacity nature of a magazine the aspect that must be inoperable or must the magazine be destroyed altogether?
I have gone ahead and ordered mag conversion kits for two of my 9mm mags and will permanently modify them whenever I can find out what that will mean in N.J.
My other complaint I will throw out there is the unfortunately lack of 10 round factory magazines in stock.  In particular, Walther and Glock mags in low capacity are very hard to find and the situation is likely to worsen now that we are a 10 round state.  I also imagine N.J. gun stores will be sending hundreds of 15 round firearms packages back to their distributors.
      What a mess.
