Aftermath of the 13th --> Please follow-up

Recommended Posts

I spent the afternoon doing everything I could to get in touch with legislators across this State that I've interacted with the last several years through my line of work... I can tell you out of my conversations today that 1) behind the scenes Cryan and Weinberg are trying to strong-arm fence sitters (no surprise, I'm sure); 2) word has spread about the farce yesterday and Mainor's lack of decorum and the attempt to side-step the process (even if their minds were made up) given the unprecedented turnout and unprecedented number of Bills; 3) there is serious concern for good legislation being tabled to rush gun control through; and 4) some are definite gun-grabbers and their minds are completely closed!

As a result, I implore each and every one of you to write a letter to your Assembly representatives IMMEDIATELY and please cater what you write to the Bills that will be voted next week - list them specifically and be brief with your reason for objection. Try to make it a technical argument and not solely on the infringement of our 2A Right. Give them cause to vote with us and fodder to use against their fellow Assembly members! To be effective, I suggest write no more than 1 page, lots of white space remaining, and please be sure to include your contact information. Again, make this a written letter and mail tomorrow to their local offices. At this point, emails are being dumped in mass due to inbox limits. Call takers are just striking off for/against if anything at all. I have been told when the fax machines run out of paper, they are simply shutting them off and resetting them and losing everything in memory. Thus, let's resort to old-fashioned snail mail!

Can I make a suggestion? When you attend one of these gun control hearings, please shower and shave that morning, dress neatly and professionally, and take your hat off when you are indoors.

I am mentioning this because the other morning I get the Star Ledger off my doorstep and there's Elmer Fudd on the front page jawing to these legislators about whatever. The anti gun media is looking to portray gun owners as uneducated hayseeds and hicks. Don't give them any content to fuel that perception.

Please dress in a neat collared shirt and jeans at a minimum. No camo, no John Deere or Cat Diesel hats, etc.

Thank you.

I've been emailing, faxing, AND following up with snail mail. I assumed that the electronic versions are too easy to ignore/delete/push aside. Paper in hand portrays more legitimacy and provenance.

You do realize that was a media ploy right? The vast majority of the 450ish attendees were in business casual, daily dress, or full-on suits! Literally a handful was anything else. Please take a look at the video for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/user/Haggz51. EVERY walk of life was represented, men and women alike, including teachers, engineers, doctors, lawyers, homemakers, students, construction workers, FFLs, off-duty and retired LEOs, fireman, EMTs, nurses, small business owner of all types, bankers, retired military, members of the clergy, members of the media, all out to defend our Second Amendment Rights.

As a side note, this is exactly how I showed up. Business casual.

I have a suggestion for you. SHOW UP.

      Although it's not a NJ establishment I believe West Side Rifle and Pistol Range is the last indoor gun range that exists in NYC of all places. I happen to know the guys and they are a great bunch of guys. I found out that they are also hurting like all other self owned businesses and someone mentioned they have a gofundme page currently. The fact that they are a 2A establishment and also the only one left in the NYC I figured i  can let our forum members know about their page. They did not come to me about this but if I can help out a business/friend and spread the word I will do so and for a good bunch of guys. I understand that for some of us it's hard to donate but if you can that would be great. If you can also spread the word and post on your social media sites that would be great. I would do so but I don't have any accounts on FB, IG or other sites. If you do donate drop them a message that it was you heard about them via NJGF!

      For me the only one that really hurts is Delta/United since they only game in town for the NY/NJ area. Maybe Metlife and Chubb too.
      Mods please move if posted in wrong section.

      You may be asking yourself, what does the bump stock ban have to do with you, especially if you dont own a bump stock. Well, if you own any semi auto rifle, it has more to do with you than you may think. In this video, MAC (Military Arms Channel) and ATF employee Rick Vasquez discuss the long reaching, and likely overreaching, authority of the ATF to regulate without legislation and how political parties use a little known backdoor to regulate without public discourse in Congress. There is also a Q&A from internet viewers.

      In a nutshell, every semi auto rifle will be affected by the proposed regulations concerning bump stocks, even if you don't own one. Among other things, ATF is now talking about regulating SA triggers and reset times. Bottom line here, the bump stock ban is not just about bump stocks. I believe it's important for you to see this, and I ask that you share this video to help get the word out.

      Here is a link to GOA where they briefly outline the ban, it's implications and a link to ATF where you can leave a comment.

      Does anyone know if this is legal according to Jersey gun laws? Has anybody done this? The intention is to transport to and from my range. Any input from any law enforcement? What about interstate? Just curious as my hatchback is really tight and wanted to know what other options are there. The cargo top would be locked.
