JC Higgins sears (marlin model 80) 22lr & scopes

Recommended Posts

I just acquired two JC Higgins Sears (Marlin model 80) 22lr bolt guns with scopes. I have a couple of questions about the scopes and the mounts they are in.

The first scope is a Weaver cub 4x, with a N2 mount.

The second scope is a JC Higgins 4x in Weaver mount.

Are the scopes in the correct mounts or were they switched at one time. Anyone have any info on either of these scopes?

Since those guns were not mine, there is no way I can tell you if they were ever switched, however the scops and the mouts are from the same time period. I have 1950's single shot bolt action 22lr with the same mount and the scope has similar markings. It was my grandfathers gun so I know the mount and scope are the orig that he put on. You should be able to research all the information you are looking for onlie. Remigton has a site where everything is listed by SN to date, I was also able to find the same info with the scope markings by looking. My scope is shot, very foggy but I will leave it on until it's time to teach JR to shoot.

The JC higgins is most likely a weaver, I do not believe that they actually made optics just rebranded kind of

like sears did with the Glendfiels/marlin products. I would say that the scope and mount are origional. These

are great rifles and will last 10 life times, they just dont offer much in retail value.
