SRC NY panic Buy!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just did something a little out of character. Bought an AR without a lick of research.

My local shop just called and let me know they got in 8 ARs today. $1200 for an SRC NY which I immediately agreed to. I didn't even know who made them until about 5 minutes ago. I "pulled the trigger" since they've been so scarce and I didn't know when I was going to get another chance.

Did I make a mistake?

I paid for over the phone and haven't even seen it! I'll hopefully get it today or tomorrow. My wife doesn't even know yet!!! lol

Let me know what you guys think.

Windham Weaponry has a decent reputation. The company was formed by the former owner of Bushmaster. He sold the company to Remington and a few years later (maybe a non-compete clause?) opened Windham. I would take a new Windham over a new Bushmaster these days.

I hope you have some 223 laying around. Nothing more frustrating than buying a gun you can't find ammo for. I would start scanning some of the online ammo sites.

Not to make an assumption, but were you thinking that the rifle would be shipped to your home?

You'll have to go down to your shop and complete a nics check, which currently takes about 7-10 days to come back. Mine took 9 with the easter holiday.

Otherwise, nice rifle! Enjoy it!

I saw a used AR15 for $2600 in one store a bit ago. You paid extra, but not that bad for these days. Heck, some people will laugh because they bought gold at $300 per ounce, but without a time machine, what can ya do?

My guess is that you saw that at the sportmans center. I think they lost their minds.

No, you're right. I'm going down today to fill out paper work and will probably take it home next week sometime!

Have never even heard of SRC before this.

As stated a few posts ago. This is not a manufacture's name. This refers to an AR made by Windham Weaponry. The model designation is SRCNY, which stands for Sight Ready Carbine NY/NJ compliant. You will need to buy some sort of optics such as backup iron sights, a red dot or reflex sight, or a scope. The good news is you get to set it up the way you want. It wont have a stupid fixed carry handle.

Windham makes fantastic guns. Looks like you did Ok in this crazy market.

I'm thinking about getting a second job to pay for this hobby! I'm happy that Bulkammo had .223 in stock. I'm sad for what I had to pay for it!

Still, not complaining. Just tough pills for a "hobby".

It will be sometime before I get some optics...

I have this red dot: http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B00200E0HM

It was only $40 after rebate when I bought it about a year ago. It does the job. Primaryarms.com also has some less than $100 Red dots that will work for you while you save up for the Aimpoint if that's what you want. The TRS-25 works for me.

You can get a Magpul BUIS (back up iron site) made of plastic for the rear. They work fine. But, you probably need to get metal fold down sight for the front since it will sit on your gas block.

      Hello Gents,

I'm selling my (like new) AR mid length complete upper receiver chambered in 300BLKOUT 7.62 × 35mm manufactured by Special Ops Tactical.  Only put approximately 100 rounds through it. For those of you who don't know, this basically will fit on most AR lowers and uses the same AR magazines but gives you a .30 caliber (7.62 x 35) by just swapping the upper receiver if you are looking for a heavier load and more knock down power for hunting etc. (obviously state laws apply). I'm only selling it because I ended up buying a complete .30 caliber rifle.

      Here are some specs:

300 BLK Out Nitride - 14.5″ Pinned to 16" Overall Midlength Upper
GPX 12.6" MLOK Free Floating Rail System with continuous 1913 Picatinny rail on top
Muzzle Brake Original "Black Magic" 30 Cal (pinned & welded NJ legal).
      {Nitride} M4 Extended Feed Ramps
      Nitride M4 Barrel Extension
      1:7 Twist Rate
      5/8×24 Thread Pitch
      Raptor Charging Handle

      Price: $695

Pm or email me with any questions: [email protected]
      I am in Deptford NJ.
THE FIRST TO POST "I'LL TAKE IT" WINS THE SALE.
A "PM sent" DOES NOT ESTABLISH THE SALE. If you want the item, post "I'll take it" and should the deal fall apart the seller can post "still available." Should you reach a negotiated price via PM then post "I'll take it per our PM(s)"  on this thread.
