Delaware and PA Nics

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to purchase a shotgun and found a Maverick 88 in Cherry Hill. I just got word on the forum that its take three weeks for the NICS to come back! Does anyone know how long Delaware and PA are taking? Thank you for your help!

If NICS is a NATIONAL system, why is it takes weeks in NJ and not anywhere else?

NJ is a POC - that is a "Point of Contact" state, meaning that they administer the NICS system, with the FFL's going through the NJSP, as opposed to most other states dealers going direct to the FBI database. That is a condemnation of NJ, not the POC NICS system, as many other states are also POC and have no difficulty in keeping the "I" in instant - most notably: Pennsylvania.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

If you are purchasing a longgun I would highly recommend Delaware. I went to the Dicks in Christiana and it took about five mins for the NICS check and about 20 mins to fill out the paperwork. The entire process out the door took about 40 - 45 mins. Why are we still waiting three weeks again!
