Nikos 31 Posted June 5, 2013 73,441,399 Gun Purchase Background Checks Under Obama; NJ Spikes 41% in May With the exception of California, New Jersey and Utah, background checks for gun purchases decreased in every state from April to May. New Jersey - a state that awaits Governor Christie's decision on a number of new gun bills - saw its largest number of background checks in a single month since the FBI began tracking data in 1998. A total of 12,656 background checks were completed in the Garden State, up 41 percent from the previous month's 8,977 checks. http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn-williams-jr/73441399-gun-purchase-background-checks-under-obama-nj-spikes-41-may 41% higher rate but I was expecting the numbers to be more than 12,656 for such a bump. jm1827 284 Posted June 5, 2013 Not surprised at all, as witnessed by the wait times for both FIDs and nics
millsan1 3 Posted June 5, 2013 Kind of makes sense. With the panic after Newtown, and then the proposed ban, people in free states went out and bought guns. In NJ, people went out and applied for FID and P2P, which we know takes months, and now that they have those in their possession, they are buying. A-Tech 8 Posted June 8, 2013 What's funny is that they are using the number of background checks as a reference to how many guns were BOUGHT. This assumes that 100% of people are passing the background checks, which also implies that criminals aren't going through background checks. Funny that works huh? AlDente67 563 Posted June 8, 2013 Wow, Obama's more successful than any marketing campaign that the manufacturer's could put out themselves. I saw one store had a large poster on the wall behind the pistol display counter that had a picture of smiling Barry with the caption "Our top salesman" lol! On the flip side, some could be purchasing more than 1 gun on a NICs check.
