raz-0 1,259 Posted August 24, 2013 100% correct. Won't even come to a vote. It's just a feel good proposal for them Come on let them pass it then take it to court and kill the existing excise taxes. If they are smart, that's why this will die in committee.
Erik 0 Posted August 24, 2013 Not gonna happen. A 50% tax on ammo is going to kill this bill before it comes to the floor. this was never meant to get voted on...they are running an absurd bill up the flagpole to see what kind of response it gets... 100% correct. Won't even come to a vote. It's just a feel good proposal for them no...when 50% draws ire, they'll send it to committee and come back with 30%...if that draws ire, they'll come back with 15%...until they they find the % that people will tolerate... http://newjersey.news12.com/news/gun-bill-proposed-by-rep-bill-pascrell-would-raise-taxes-on-weapons-ammunition-1.5933062 Not old... resurrected. resurrected is the key word..these things are never 1 and done..they are always just a step in the plan to raise taxes/restrict rights....they won't get 50% in one fell swoop, so they'll keep revising and resurrecting until 5-7 yrs from now, they have their 50% increase...and the avg idiot sits there and says "i remember when ammo was cheap...what happened?" mark_anthony_78 0 Posted August 26, 2013 Walmart in East Stroudsburg and Nazareth have been pretty slim/empty on handgun and most rifle ammo the past few times I've visited over the last several months. Just obscure calibers, mostly. They do usually have 12G shotgun ammo, from about $7/box for game loads up to some expensive stuff. Dunkelbergers in East Stroudsburg likely has anything you need, for a price. I was there a few months back and the cheapest .22LR they had was about $38 per box of 500, but at least their shelves were well stocked at the time. Eff P 0 Posted August 26, 2013 IT SAYS ASSAULT PISTOLS So are they saying pistols that have a threaded barrel and a barrel shroud get taxed, or can I just not get the shroud?

raz-0 1,259 Posted August 27, 2013 Wait... call me a dumbass but we already have an increased tax from the typical sales tax? Wtf? It's the excise tax. It is federal. http://www.ttb.gov/firearms/faet-faqs.shtml all the magic forms and whatnot http://www.ttb.gov/applications/faet_packet.shtml http://www.ttb.gov/tax_audit/atftaxes.shtml the rates for various BATFE covered items. Handyman 5,682 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) So to increase "safety" you raise the price of ammo. Ammo being unreasonably expensive, people are less apt to go to the range and practice. All things being equal, less practice equals worse aim. That makes us safer? Riiiight. I'm suprised that libs who claim to love the poor do not see through this. By making ammo expensive, they are disproportionatly denying the poor and middle income citizens an effective means of self defense. NB: Edited for spelling so Bhunted won't pick on me!! zoid 24 Posted August 27, 2013 I'm sure illegal gun dealers quote "500 dollars in unmarked bills, plus 7% sales tax" to all their prospective buyers. LOL!!!!
Blacksmythe 71 Posted August 28, 2013 Being low income and wanting to own firearms is a sin that must be taxed out of existence.
fslater 62 Posted September 1, 2013 I don't know why this is being debated so much here in this forum. Every gun owner in NJ know that 99.9% of democrat officials and 95% of republican officials in NJ take the stand of guns kill and cause violence not the person pulling the trigger. The person that pulls the trigger is a victim of society..... and that poor person deserves help not punishment. Personally I think using a gun in a violent crime should in itself be a separate charge with a "mandatory" sentence of 15 years without the possibility of parole. That if not curbing crime by being a deterrent would at least take a subhuman scumbag off the streets for 15 years........ But I guess that's why I'm just a lowly moron that has to be told by our godly legislatures that my ideas won't work, we need a tax (paid by a law abiding citizen exercising a constitutional right, as deemed by the US Supreme court) to put cameras in schools so we can have video of that poor victim of society as he massacres. Stupid me, when you look at it that way its so clear...... Problem solved
mark_anthony_78 0 Posted September 1, 2013 I don't know why this is being debated so much here in this forum. I dont' think it's being "debated" as much as it's being ridiculed as a worthless idea. Debate would require arguments from both sides, and I haven't seen any support for additional taxes from any of the members here.
