What would you do???

So I took the .45 hawken out today to give her a little oil bath because I haven't shot her in a little while. So rather than going into my BP supplies, I grabbed a .45 jag out of my regular cleaning supplies. Well when I got to the bottom of the bore the patch slipped. When this happens it gets very hard to pull it out. So I used a tool that I have that gives you more grip on the rod. I got it almost all the way out then it broke. I got the jag and patch out. I'm not going to tell you how yet. I'm going to see if any new guys may know or how they would do it. Maybe we'll all learn something. I'll post how I did it later.

Compressed air on the flash hole would be my best guess though I have seen corkscrew type devices before but I doubt that would work with a jag.

use a dental pick and try to catch the parts and slowly ease it out that way

maybe wrap the mid-section of a pipe cleaner or simular wire around the indented groove and pull from both ends of the wire?

Pull the nipple, try and get some powder in the breach, and pop a cap in a safe direction.

You should have went to efga and threw it over the wall. I hear that solves all the problems with any gun.

 

seriously tho, couldn't you have just used a patch worm instead of a jag to get it out? stick it down there twist a few times and pull the patch out?

the jag broke inside the barrel. It was not just a patch. the patch slipped at the bottom. when a patch does that it bunches up and becomes very hard to pull out. so from pulling on it so much the treads of the jag snapped off.

ok. i thought the patch slipped off the jag at the bottom and you pulled the jag out without the patch. then put it back in to try to get the patch out and got it stuck.
