SgtToadette 59 Posted April 29, 2014 Imgur titles itself the simple image sharer, and I believe that to be true. If you don't use imgur, you probably should. It's ridiculously easy to upload and share images. You don't need an account to upload images, but creating an account will enable you to create albums and track your images. Here's the link: http://imgur.com/ So let's say you've got a picture you're dying to share with us on NJGF. It doesn't matter whether that image is saved on your computer, from another website, or copied to your computer's clipboard. You can upload it on Imgur and use that to share it with us here. No matter where that image is, you start by going to Imgur's homepage. From there, you'll see the box below on the upper right of the webpage. If you have an image saved on your computer, you'll want to click the button labeled "Computer". If it's from another website, you'll want to click the "Web" button. It's like they tried to make it easy for us! You can also click the arrow in the cloud icon on the banner of the page. It will bring up a different menu with a few more options (like being able to paste an image), but it does the same job (perhaps a little faster). I'm going to get to uploading from another website later, but first I'm going to walk through uploading from a computer. Good! So you clicked the "Computer Button". Doing so will automatically open up a dialog box on your computer. You'll need to navigate to the file you want to upload. Once you find it, select it, and click the Open button. If you saved an image to your computer from the web, it might be located in your Downloads folder rather than your default picture folder. You'll be presented with another menu that looks like this: If you want to upload a few more images, use one of the four options above, rinse, and repeat. If you're ready to upload your image(s), click "Start Upload" and the image will begin processing. Once done you'll be brought to a new menu with your picture front and center with a plethora of links off to the right. Highlight the URL right underneath the "Direct Link (email & IM)" catagory. Copy that URL by either right-clicking and selecting "copy" or using the hot-key ctrl + c. Once you do that, head on over the NJGF and get ready to post your image. Simply click the Image Button (). You'll see the following dialog box pop up: All that's left is pasting that URL you copied just before into this dialog box then press okay. BAM! Your image should appear. Now instead of saving pictures from other sites to your computer and then uploading them to Imgur, you can simply copy that image by right-clicking, then pasting it into Imgur's dialog box. If you have any questions about the process or if I was at all unclear about any of the steps, let me know and I'll do my best to explain and clarify. Hope this helped!
Pythagoras 2 Posted April 29, 2014 As a fellow millennial, I vouch for the awesomeness of this instruction manual. But you forgot the most important part: is it pronounced image-uhr or im-grr ?
mikka1 2 Posted April 29, 2014 I personally don't like imgur for quick picture uploads - it's more a "sharing" service in itself with flashy front page design, social networking elements etc etc. At the same time I found http://postimage.org/ to be much better for my purpose. I don't even think I can write a manual for it even in one chapter - so simple it is. Just choose a file on your computer, click Upload It and then copy a direct link for an uploaded image. No ads, no annoying stuff, plain and simple, as it should be

Hope this helped! Many Thanks, Sgt. I hope that more people use Imagur (which I do) as opposed to Photobucket, which I can't stand , Becuase of the security controlls I have on the browser, Photobucket content doesn't render immediately and needs a lot more "relaxing" of the security restrictions. I think the creator has said it's pronounced Im-a-jur, but everyone calls it Im-jur.
