Coming back from Afghanistan and warned of ISIS threat to military personnel. Can i obtain a Concealed carry permit??

Recommended Posts

Was there any new updates as to ccw with a known threat to a person with in New Jersey? Wasn't sure but I thought I heard something about a specific threat toward someone ( Isis to military personnel ) versus a general threat. Probably nothing but wanted to see if anyone had heard anything. And the chances of ccw for miltary members in nj

I haven't pursued this further since this time last year. It took me 8 months to get a P2P from the NJSP and I finally got my G43 about a month ago. The SP told me I'd have to qualify with the handgun I planned to carry so having to wait 8 months to even purchase a new handgun set me back. In addition to that, I've been way to busy with life in general lately to deal with the SP's bull$hit, but I do plan on reattacking this issue in the future. We shall see what comes out of the AG's office.

Thank you for your brave service sir.

I am not a NJ resident any longer but if you had an organization (keep your name anonymous) start a funding page someplace and a handful of ya filed a lawsuit I as well as many others outside NJ would surely donate!

But as far as NJ goes if our service personal can't carry on base in the US I doubt they would allow you to carry in the safe street of most of NJ.

Pretty disheartening that today I actually needed to carry concealed or even open to protect my family but couldn't. I felt so helpless, Today I took my children and my 12 year old dachshund  to wildwood crest nj beach to pick sea shells. They were so excited. WE got onto the beach and we started walking towards the ocean when from out of the south side of the beach a pit bull runs toward us and immediately attacks my dog. I picked up my dog to get him away from this pitbull then he started attacking me. He also bit my friend. THe owner finally comes over to gain control of his dog. First thng out of mouth he says he was a cop! Honestly I don't care. MY whole family was crying, My dog was bleeding and I felt so helpless during this attack. I had nothing to stop it.  THe attack lasted about 5 minutes. Yes 5 minutes because my friend called the cops because we seen no one in site. THe time until the owner got there was 5 minutes. I couldn't believe it. I was thinking what can I do to stop this attack. What if he started attacking my children and I couldn't stop it. There was nothing we had to hit it with. The ambulance came and the police and a report was written. We took my dog ti the vet. He suffered multiple bites, 2 tears and 3 broken ribs. He's 12 years old!!

I felt so helpless. My family's life was in danger and I couldn't protect them. I am disgusted with this states inability to obtain a CCW! I have my CCW non resident in florida but it doesn't mean anything for this state. All I wanted to do today was take the family on the beach to pick shells and go home and color them with my children.

It really sickens me that I am a law abiding citizen, served and still serving in the army reserves since 1986. Just got back from afghaninstan about a year and a half ago and will be deploying to Iraq in the near future. I not stating this to pat my back, I'm stating this because I am a reasonable man. A person who has  protected this country for a very long time but when I needed to protect my family I couldn't. This is seriously wrong and unfair. I know I wont allow this to happen again to my family. I love this country and  I love my family. I will protect both equally for now on.

Should have got the dog in a choke hold and beat the damn thing to death.
Consult a lawyer. Sue the owner into oblivion. If a lesbian couple can win 6 figures for being mentally raped because a religious baker wouldn't make them a wedding cake, you should be able to get much more than that!

So sorry to hear about the dog attack. I have a gentle female Pit and she has been jumped twice, does not fight back. The first time it happened, we went right to the expensive emergency vet. I presented the $500 bill to the attacking dog owner with "The look" and she wrote a check on the spot.

Next time I will have a hatchet or a dirk.

Unreal. Sorry you, your family and your dog had to go through that. If this guy's pit bull bolted and attacked your dog, I doubt it was the first time. And won't be the last. If he insists on allowing his dog to be beyond his control, he needs to learn that he can't do that. You should really consider suing him.

Unreal - but please don't play into the pit bull mantra as I do a lot in dog rescue - it was an unbalanced dog that attacked yours, and the owner is responsible, probably because he's a cop and is never home to give the dog the attention and discipline it needs - ANY dog has the ability to attack a person or dog with the wrong leadership from their owner.

Fucking sad - I hope your dog heals up ok - that would kill me if mine got attacked as he is going on 10.

Right... not a dig against pit bulls.   An issue with ill tempered dogs.  Craziest effing dog I ever ran into was a mid sized poodle.

get a lawyer and sue everybody involved. And since the guy uttered "I'm a cop" as his first words, you may consider going after his dept. if that is a police dog

Reason being, if we cant protect ourselves, we need to hold those paid to protect us, to higher standards

I am not a litigious person by nature but I agree. Sue the shit out of the owner. You no doubt have Vet bills. Make him pay those at the very least!

Thank you for your past and ongoing service sir! It is much appreciated by this U.S.Navy Vet!

I swore the same oath as you. Upon separation from the military, I was never told that I am longer bound by that oath. I shall always live by that oath!

Godspeed to you and your family and I pray your canine friend is well.

Who is paid to protect us? First I've heard of it...

The police are paid to enforce the laws. Whether or not that involves protecting citizens is up to each department (and ultimately each individual officer).

Sucks because any publicity will further push hatred for pits forward, because people will blame the dog rather than the owner. Took my dog out once and had a long cable to a tree in my moms front yard. Was great and all til another dog passed and she literally broke her freakin collar off trying to get the dog.

She didnt attack, either.. just barked. Dragged her ass inside and realized it was probably a bad idea, and that was a few years ago. She stays in the fenced in backyard now. NOT worth a lawsuit..

While NJ is a complete fault state when it comes to dog attacks--the owners liability is limited to the value of the livestock / animal only if it is killed. Look at some of the horrendous law suit settlements even when children are attacked. You won't get much cash but it will cause the courts to order the destruction of the animal.

And who cares if the guy is a cop.....was he trying to scare you off from taking action? At the moment in time he was nothing but an irresponsible dog owner who shouldn't have a pit bull.

I have two bull mastiffs, they are considered one of those breeds, however it's on me to keep them from causing harm to people or other animals. Fortunately they are very people friendly, however if someone's afraid they are kept away. I'm not one of those owners who repeatedly says, " don't worry, they're friendly..."

Additionally they are animal aggressive, very aggressive, like I had to train them not to jump at the television when there was action, fighting or worse an animal. However, I'm responsible for them and no one else.

I'd get a lawyer and there's a good chance they'll take the dog from him.

Pits aren't a bad breed, but some owners are

Too many owners are, plus the gang bangers, killing the reputation of what is otherwise a fine animal.

Now black lives matter stating now to kill firefighters because they are the same as police.....! 2 credible threats with no right for self protection. What's wrong here!! Law abiding citizen who serves country and community but can't protect himself.....

Justifiable need requires a county judge that will acknowledge your very legitimate need for a carry weapon.  The problem here is that JN is simply a way for those leftist judges to say no.  The real reason they say no is because they don't want the public to have any guns.  Let alone carry one in public.   JN is not the holy grail for them.  It's simply a step along the way to disarming the little people.  There's no rational argument you can make to the people I'm referring to in this post that would have them agreeing that you need a carry weapon.  They'll just tell you that's what 911 is for and that you carrying a weapon just contributes to a lack of public safety.
