Danno 127 Posted March 10, 2015 I have the opportunity to buy an Erma Werke .22 training rifle. It looks and functions just like an M1 carbine. I've looked it over and it does not say M1 Carbine on the receiver. So the obvious question is, is it NJ legal? I know M1 Carbine was banned by name, but is it also on the "substantial characteristic" list ? Thanks for any help.
Airdale26 0 Posted March 14, 2015 As far as I have read the existing laws in NJ, the erma werke is similar in design, size as the M1 carbine except for the obvious caliber. NJ gun Ban addresses this very clearly. It is very nice rifle, built by the Germans and mimics the M1 extremely well. I know Ft Dix rod and gun range does not allow them. If anyone else know different please advise.
Danno 127 Posted March 14, 2015 Thanks Airdale. Upon further review the rifle does say M1 Carbine on the side of the reciever. That makes it a no go.
