Figner printing appointments....

Recommended Posts

... or lack there of. Is it typical for these Identgo locations to be fully booked for weeks? I've gotten a state background check before, except I got finger printed in my local police department and it took less than a minute. I just don't understand why we even need appointments much less how they're fully booked.

to answer your question simply.... yes, this is now par for the course. I just did this about 3 weeks ago at Raritan Center in Edison New Jersey. and you cannot make a same day appointment they are usually booked about a week and a half out. the funny thing is is when I went there it was not a soul around and it only takes about 30 seconds to complete the task.

See, that's what I figured. Finger printing doesn't take long. I just made an appointment for the 29th. That's ridiculous. I honestly thought it was an error until I spoke to someone on the phone.

"We're sorry, but our electronic fingerprint impression technician is only available on alternate Thursdays between the hours of 10:15 and 10:20 A.M.

We appreciate your business, but if you can't fit into our state-mandated schedule, you're shit-outta-luck. Thank you for picking MorphoTrack, a Corzine-owned enterprise."

They are using digital prints now.  When you got it done, and when I got it done at the PD, they were ink/paper prints.

try a different location. a slightly longer drive might be worth it.

It's all the same story. I could get it a week earlier if I take off of work, but it doesn't seem worth the hassle to take off just to do it 5 days sooner. The one closest to me is just completely booked. There are no available appointments at all.

Do they not require it for address change? I just handed in my app last week, and was told I don't need to get finger printed if it's for a change of address. Even though when I first got my Fid it was done in ink at the pd.

Technically, no they don't. It is rare that they don't just process it like a new permit.

This PD has been excellent so far. I handed my app in last Wed, and by the weekend, both my references had the forms already. They did also send one to my job, which I was surprised about. But so far, in addition to not making me get prints taken again, I can't complain too much.

I did mine in Newark, because it was more convenient location to my workplace. I recall there was no problem getting an immediate online appointment. Just had to pay for parking my car in a lot. Plus my local PD got the prints right away.

Back 4 years ago, when the state was contracting some other company (Sangam Morpho or some nonsense like that), it was the same deal. I remember booking the earliest possible date, and I still had to wait weeks to go do it. Not only that, but there were only like 6 of the places in the entirety of NJ. Luckily, at the time I lived less than a mile to the closest one to me.

Identogo is the same company as MorphoTrack...just changed names. Texas uses them for CHL prints. Same way down here...had to wait 3 days for the appointment and when I got there, there were no other customers...in and out in 5 minutes. Six weeks later, I had my carry license.

This signature is AWESOME!!!

I wonder if you'd get away with just showing up. When I got my fingerprints a couple years ago (somewhere in Bergen County...Paramus I think?), I remembered noticing that no one bothered to confirm I had a scheduled appointment.

When I went the guy had a check list. I was 3 hours early and he didn't seen to think anything of it.
