I'm going to apply to be denied

Recommended Posts

Do you offer a specific course for Nj firearms competency?

As far as I understand, NJ requires " justifiable need" and firearms competency.

I want to make sure I get the competency part before I apply. I know I'll be denied.

I'm a member of Nj2as if you offer a discount I hope others will follow in my endeavor.

Thank you in advance, Merry Christmas!

Zeke

I think if you dig through the "law/regulations" competency is 40 hrs of training for a NJ Police instructor and passing Handgun qualification #1. I'll try and find the exact reference

Edit: Maybe this is what one of my instructors said it would likely be if we ever got true CCW

I'm with you, I started filling out my CCW application. Need to how to craft a letter of my Justifiable Need

Anybody ever try?

I'm thinking something along the lines of increase in random terror attacks on US Soil, ISIS and having access to a high value target for work that makes me/my family a high Value target, etc. Also there has been an increase in break in my town, people have walked in on the perpetrator(s) a few time (ya Casino shut downs)

See my recent posts in "just got back from Afghanistan" thread about military and CCW in this state. I got as far as applying at my local SP barracks and besides being told by the poor shmuck in charge of firearms ID cards/purchase permits that I'd never be approved with ISIS being my justification, he said that if I did apply I'd need an FID and I'd need to qualify on the exact handgun I planned to carry (down to the serial #) every 6 months!! I've never bought the handgun I plan to carry (G43) yet because I'm going on 8 months since applying for a purchase permit that I haven't been able to use yet (a whole'nother story). Needless to say I'm not a huge fan of the folks at the NJSP when it comes to the seriousness of this matter (or lack there of).

They make up their own rules and do whatever they want at their pace; not yours.

Having been in the military for almost 14 years, I'm fairly seasoned on what a "run-around" is, but I can tell you dealing with this horse $hit is ridiculous.

We do the qualification needed for applying for the CCW. It is the same course that armed guards take and has been in effect and used for about 70 years in NJ. Q target and 50 rounds of ammo.

Sorry for the delay.
