Is it Legal to Hunt with this Rifle

Recommended Posts

Whatever is in season for one or both Calibers. Like if were Hunting six day Deer with the Shotgun would it be a problem because im in the woods with a .22 Magnum also even though its one Rifle ?

This should be a phone call to the division of fish and game -- If you do get an answer that says you can be sure to write down all the info you can about the person telling you it's OK to use

The guy in the field may not agree with whoever you spoke to

Also be sure not to have ammo on you or in the truck for whatever isn't legal

I believe that is the determining factor.  If no 22 mag ammo, then it should be legal.

^^^^^THIS!

NO deer hunting allowed with a rifle in NJ (except single-shot muzzleloader---modern inline OR traditional sidelock percussion OR flintlock)!   So if you can FEED your rifle .22 Mag rounds (from your vehicle OR your pocket/vest/pants/jacket/or pulled outta yer ass, you're deer hunting with a rifle!

This ain't like the old days with my 10 ga. SxS muzzleloading scattergun:  Load one side with buckshot (OR a .715 roundball that weighs 1 1/4 oz) and the other with birdshot and harvest whatever flies, walks, jumps or crawls within range (including BEAR).    .......FYI it's where the phrase "LOADED FOR BEAR" came from, lol!

I picked up a Savage Model 24 it's a .22 Magnum over a 20 Gauge Shotgun is it legal to hunt with it in New Jersey or is it considered Hunting with Two firearms.

These are still popular upstate New York. I occasionally see them, especially amongst squirrel hunters.

Breda, or a sister company of theirs (they're an Italian gun mfg. that make great shotguns) and they make a similar gun.. 12 ga plus a .223. I think it also can be a 7.62. The reason is in Italy you are limited to owning a certain amount of guns. So they need multi purpose guns.

But I believe you are limited to having that gun with you only during seasons in which you are allowed to use a rifle in NJ.
