Any clubs offer 50 yd rimfire benchrest?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I wanted to try my hands at this in a formal setting, but just found out my range (Cherry Ridge) only runs 100yd, mainly for centerfire.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The back of the plinking range is supposedly 50 yards from the benches. You could try that.

Have you asked about setting up a stand @ 50 yards on the 100-yard range? As long as everyone's behind the line when you start banging away it shouldn't make a difference.

Cherry Ridge most certainly has a 50 yard option for 22/center fire rifle on the 100 yd range, just stick to the far right ports for 22. The handgun range also has a 50, just never saw anyone use it other than for the comps. And the plinking range is @48 yds to the back, I measured it.

I understood the OP's question to mean that he is looking for a competitive event. Certainly he could put a target stand at 50 yards at CR and plink away to his heart's content.

Exactly...I am looking for a formal 50 yd event. I know I can set up my target at 50yd.

OBRPC has had a 50 yard rimfire event in the past --  was an event held by PCC -- Ed bradley runs it

I don't know if they will be doing it this year but an email to Ed should answer that -- you can find his email on the OBRPC website

It is probably not the answer you are looking for but you might want to check out rimfirecentral. They hold '10 Bull Benchrest Scope Sight Rookie matches - 25 & 50 yd' over Internet. It is fun and you do not have to spend a whole day to take 10 shots.

We had an outdoor Precision 50 yard competition at OBRPC, I used to participate in it. Did not have a chance last year so not sure if it is still on the schedule. Iggy Ortega (hope I got his last name correct) was running it. He also does OBRAMS (run and gun USPSA style with rimfire on select Saturdays). It was a blast and I want to get back into it this year if it is still around.

Sorry, I did not see that event listed anymore on the website. Maybe after Rich escaped NJ Iggy didn't want to run it by himself anymore. Doesn't mean it can't come back. June 2nd is the next meeting. Can always go there and ask the board if this event may be back in the future, or even talk to Iggy and see if he still has interest in it.
