I'm just bothered by the relative lack of sophistication of the NRA's marketing program. A dramatic video re-creation and interview of a real-life DGU case - posted to YouTube and going viral would do more for the pro 2A cause than ANY amount of American Rifleman articles. (I remember some case down in Georgia - a mom was at home with her kids, some nutcase was hacking through the front door with an axe, then hacking through the bedroom door... etc. Just INCREDIBLY dramatic. And I thought to myself: we will NEVER see this on Dateline. They should be profiling folks like that).

 

And I'm not making this next point because I'm a woman either - but from a marketing perspective, these folks should be ALL OVER the women's self-defense angle. Not only is it a fast-growing demographic, but on the other side of the spectrum, woman are also the primary drivers behind the anti-gun movement - sheesh, if it was me, I would target the HELL out of that audience. There are more and more single women today than ever before - buying their own homes, sometime acting as head of household for their kids - and women are by nature (by necessity, I would argue) WAY MORE security conscious than men are.  Sooo easy to target (pun intended) that market - I just don't get why I don't see it unfolding as I think it should. But, it's always easy to have all the answers from one's sofa, I guess. LOL.

When you consider all the sub-moronic schlock that passes for "reality" TV (OMG he's "drowning" just three feet from the cameraman!!), it's amazing somebody hasn't put together a series on real world people overcoming the scum who are continuously trying to screw us. Not just home invaders but government at every level, big companies. TV today is all about victims. The series should be about victors. In other words the theme that rivaled love as the most frequent idea in music, art, film, and literature for the last 6,000 years: The triumph of good over evil.

Just closing the loop on this thread. It seems Couric finally gave an "apology" - albeit a fairly weak one if you ask me.  The comments section is pretty funny - she's getting rather eviscerated on there.

Great documentary when you distort facts to make a point, eh?  Now the film is more irrelevant and what other facts have been distorted?  It calls into question the integrity of the film in its entirety.

the press on this did far more good for them than the doc did. what's the viewing audience of epix? if it's 10k i'd be shocked. yet when cnn and mainstream news picks the story up it becomes an issue

Hmmm... I may have tried to close out this thread too soon... it seems the issue MAY be growing some "legs"... Trump has now tweeted about it. And (love him or hate him) The Donald knows how to manipulate the press and draw attention to issues. We shall see.

This is why I advocate cutting the umbilical cord to lunacy and depravity. Don't keep the goddamned networks on your boxes for 10 hours a day. Don't watch them. Especially don't watch their propaganda disguised as news. If you think they're not influencing you you're wrong. And by watching you're adding to their numbers and helping to stall their demise.

The MSM is picking up on this because they have no other choice.  Naturally the story is being spun as Couric having made a "mistake", that the pause was simply for dramatic effect, that she initially objected to the pause (yeah right) and now feels bad she did not more strenuously object.(yeah right again).  First she stands by the documentary, then after being presented with incontrovertible evidence back peddles and says she had a problem with it?  No way.  It was her documentary, she could have had anything changed she thought was impropper.

 

Couric said she asked about the pause during an initial review of the documentary,

but admitted she should have pushed harder. “I regret that those eight seconds

were misleading and that I did not raise my initial concerns more vigorously,” she said.

 

 

What a load of BS.  She did not apologize for the blatant deceit, she said she regretted it was misleading.  The only thing Couric regrets is that someone in the audience had an audio recorder and exposed her for what she is.  A liar..

I don't think there is much of a genie. I think the only people who noticed this thing were TKBA types. I say this because I have seen essentially zero support for her from anywhere, nor the topic even bought up in the usual places. It's not like their side feels any shame at making shit up, so that would imply nobody even knows what the hell this thing is.

What's TKBA? I don't understand the rest of your post either. They have a movie. The trailer has been seen by a large number of people. They have an 'action' website. The pro-gun sites make it seem like she's in deep doo-doo. She's not.
