10X 3,296 Posted June 4, 2016 I've got a lot of ammo to load this weekend, and while checking a charge weight I dropped one of the small brass locator pins that holds the casing in snug against the shell plate. (You can see what they look like here: https://www.dillonprecision.com/rl-550b-caliber-conversion-kit_8_2_23598.html) It took a bad bounce, and disappeared somewhere into the basement clutter. I can't find the dang thing anywhere, and it will take a week to get a new one from Dillon. Holding the casings in by hand with each turn of the shell plate got old fast. But, I make hand-turned wooden pens as another hobby, so I chucked a hardwood offcut from a pen blank into my lathe, and in 15 minutes turned an identical pin, giving it the same rock-hard superglue finish I use on the pens. It's working out great--I'm back in business. And if it wasn't so hard to post photos to this forum, I'd let you see how great a cocobolo locator pin looks on a Dillon 550B. Rob0115 1,105 Posted June 4, 2016 While that's really creative and interesting I'd really like to see a couple photos of your pens too. Any chance?
