Kids fishing derby June 11 in califon

The school I work for is hosting this year's get kids hooked on fishing not on drugs fishing derby June 11 at the Hunterdon ESC school property on hoffmans crossing rd in califon. Need to pre register at www.hcesc.com. I'll be working the event weighing and measuring the fish. We have tons of prizes and our pond is loaded with tons of fish. Ask for me, Adam and introduce yourself.

Says it's from 8:30 to 12:30 - do people need to arrive by 8:30 or can they show up at pretty much any time?

 

Let me see - I might bring my niece/nephew but will have to leave by 11:30.

I think you can show up whenever you want. If anyone gives you a problem just ask to speak with me and I'll straighten it out. To win prizes you're supposed to be there at the end but I can collect prizes for you if they win any.

Our pond has bluegill, crappie, large mouth bass, hybrid stripers, blue catfish, huge carp, and rainbow trout. The musky hatchery is also stocking extra trout. The pond is catch and release only!

 

Tackle- light medium action rod 5.5ft to 6.5ft with as light of line as your comfortable with, I use 2-4lbs. But if you find where the blue cats spawning holes are you are in for a fight.

 

Bait- herring, nightcrawlers, garden worms meal worms and grasshoppers as well as the typical lures.

 

I do belive bait will be available for sale there from the local bait shop but I'm not 100% positive of that. FYI there is going to be a short downhill hike from the parkinglot.

No problem with folding chairs. This is the one time of year when this pond is open to the public so have fun at my honey hole. We have a really good eco system going so please keep it clean as I know my fellow NJGF members will.  This is a school property so no smoking please.
