Britain Votes To Leave EU

Recommended Posts

That is GREAT news for the folks in the UK and a strike against globalists EVERYWHERE.  If the EU was successful, the NAU complete with the AMERO would have been next.

A bunch of un-elected, unaccountable bureaucrats in Brussels were essentially on the road to a dictatorship by bureaucracy.

What I don't understand was how the death of that MP, Jo Cox would have ANYTHING at all towards keeping the UK in the EU, yet it helped skew the vote much closer to remain.

It'd be like me voting for Hillary Clinton because someone does something to Huma Abedin.  Who is such a low informed voter that they are swayed by an unrelated event?   It boggles my mind.

For sure. Gold is up about $67 which shows the market is going nuts right now. It'll be for good in the long run.

67 isn't that much on $1300. Bit coin has gone crazy in the last few weeks as well.

I'm also not sure it'll be good in the long run. The UK is a global economy and they're shunning their biggest trading partner.

Yeah in terms of immigration, it might be good, but that's not the only impact.

The us treasury rates are gonna rally as a risk off trade. Low rates are not good in the long run for any economy.

I could go on about this, but just wanted to point out to all the isolationists that this will have large unforeseen impacts. Not just for the UK.

$67 is a pretty big jump when you consider how fast it happened. This will be a positive in the long run in my opinion. Whenever a country loses their sovereignty, it leads to globalization which is not a good thing. All European countries are essentially under the rule of the EU, which is the beginning of a one world government. Nothing good can come from that.

It will be a bumpy ride today with the Dow looking to open down 500 or so, but recall it is up more than that in the last few days.  Really should not be that big an issue for the US, probably a positive.  Anyone thinking of going on vacation to London, it just went on sale.

The bigger issue is this may be the end of the entire EU.  Germany now is the 600 pound gorilla, and Europe has fought many wars to keep Germany from being in control.  Fraxit (France Exit) may likely be next.

I'll admit I haven't been following this much. How is this a good thing? On the surface it seems like it would be bad for the UK

Imagine if you voted for your state rep, in your district.  He goes to Trenton, votes for whatever is in the interest of his district and you.    You want to build a 10x12 shed.   Someone in Miami, lets call them the FUs, who you don't even know, didn't vote for and can't vote away decides you are no longer able to build a shed larger than 4' x 4' on your property.

You complain to your rep, he files a dispute with the FU.    A judiciary group in the FU, also who you don't know, can't vote for, nor can you remove, decides against your rep.

End of story, that's it, it is now law.  No shed for you.

Did you watch Brexit the movie?  You should.    The EU decided that British fishermen were not allowed to fish off of their own shores.  In fact, they gave those fishing grounds to others.   When the UK complained, they were denied.  In fact, of the 72 major complaints that the UK has had with the EU, 72 were decided against the UK.

There are 5 presidents in the EU...they hold the job for a short period of time, go back into a different group and emerge again later.  It is literally re-arraigning the deck chairs to obfuscate who decides on what.   The EU elects its own presidents and leaders of the powerful committees.    No one gets to know how the election is held..that's all secret.

The EU was specifically designed to hide its workings so that not only does no one know how decisions are made or who made them but once decisions are made, they can't be changed.

It's insanity and it needs to die.  It's a works program by bureaucrats so that they can retire with lavish pensions and rule without accountability.

I feel like my comments are being misconstrued. I'm not a fan of the idea of the EU. I grew up in the soviet union and hate the idea of socialism and centralized control over economies.

I'm just pointing out that this isn't something to throw a party about yet. This will have far reaching consequences. This will have effects felt in the us. Even as I write this, billions of dollars of wealth are destroyed with the financial markets selling off.

Nick you mention the jobs argument and its complete bs. The jobs that people cry about are the ones that the locals don't want to do. Usually manual labor or dirty jobs. This is low paying work. Yes its sad when unemployment goes up, but its happened many times in the past due to technological advancements.

I don't want to get into a big ideological debate here. Just think you should look at other things besides lost jobs as arguments against immigration.

It was a such a great move that the English Prime Minister quit his job. That action alone should speak volumes. I wonder what's going to happen when England wants to get back in and they are not allowed, then it's going to be a party.

Margaret Thatcher:

"What we should grasp, however, from the lessons of European history is that, first, there is nothing necessarily benevolent about programmes of European integration; second, the desire to achieve grand utopian plans often poses a grave threat to freedom; and third, European unity has been tried before, and the outcome was far from happy."

"The European single currency is bound to fail, economically, politically and indeed socially, though the timing, occasion and full consequences are all necessarily still unclear.

'Europe' is the result of plans. It is, in fact, a classic utopian project, a monument to the vanity of intellectuals, a programme whose inevitable destiny is failure: only the scale of the final damage done is in doubt."

"To be free is better than to be unfree - always. Any politician who suggests the opposite should be treated as suspect."

Bad day for this because it's Russell rebalance today as well which is the biggest equity trading day of the year. Its super bowl Sunday for program traders. Lets see the volatility.

A little shake up in the world every now and then is a good thing.

Maybe the folks in GB should feel manual labor again and build up their backs a bit...! Just like in the US.

I could care less about financial markets and profiteering, sell offs etc.

Immigration across the board from the third world, needs to end across the board.

Ignorance sure is bliss.

The us population is in decline if you exclude immigration. Meaning that the population ages and you end up like Japan. Huge unfunded pension liabilities, dwindling GDP, lower productivity.

All that sure sounds swell.

We definitely need a better handle on who enters our borders, but completely shutting it down is not the answer.

But hey, lets shake things up. Its boring being predictable.

So an upgrade over NJ, since in your scenario the local Rep actually represents their constituents.

In theory only.  The rep has no authority to change anything.   In the EU, all the reps did was provide a cover to suggest that people still had representatives.  All those reps are simply ignored by the EU.  If they get too uppity, the EU takes steps to have bothersome reps removed and replaced.   During the next election cycle, NGOs and other groups lavish the "EU Safe" candidate with money and offer them a position later in the EU.  This ensure that your new rep will tow the EU line and give you lip service while ignoring legitimate issues.

I like that one, I also like the other one where the Brits are sitting in the dark and the "Brexit door" is open with the light shining in.

Also, notice some of the details of the above pic.  It's great.  Clown driving the shop and the muslim trying to feel up the maiden figurehead.  LOL.

Right about now the British decision way back when to NOT join the Euro currency was a real good one. I suspect 10 years from now the result of this election will be regarded as the same.

In the meantime, I note that 'rampant unchecked immigration' is another misnomer for the correct and accurate term that describes what's going on in primarily western countries: invasion.

On every subsequent conversation on TV that you hear, mentally plug in 'invasion' every time you hear every other reference codeword for aliens crossing a country's border without permission. Makes quite a difference in the discussion, which is why of course you'll never hear it publicly.

Example: "Invasion is going to be the most important issue in the coming election."

See?
