FID card required for Gunsmith work?

Recommended Posts

Wow, just frigging wow -

I am not sure what to say, other than while I appreciate your zeal comparing the carrying/owning of a deadly weapon to your right of free speech, comical.

Also, I find it incredulous that you cannot see, or are unwilling to see, due to some innate self styled crazed phobia that any restriction at all, is somehow and affront to sensibilities and all your rights.

In the specific example given, the person is a danger to himself, his family, those around him and God forbid people on the street, if in fact he goes somewhere where he can carry.

It is amazing at the lengths, some will go and not see common sense.

IMO this type, of attitude is *just* as bad as the anti's -

No one is saying it is NOT his right to own a firearm, no one is saying that he cannot own a firearm - HOWEVER, it is *HIS* duty to be properly trained in the handling of his weapon and the laws that surround the responsible ownership of it - now if that means before he takes possession of said weapon - he must undergo some form of training in basic handling of firearms etc.

That then is just common sense and good for us all.

So to finish out this, once again NJGF special tangent, until cooler heads prevail to silence the extremes on both sides, the extremes will continue to destroy this nation, it's citizens and the rights afforded them by their creator that we so dearly cherish.

You sell guns right? How do you check to see if those people that you sell to have obtained the proper amount of training before you sell to them? Do you make them take a mandatory class? Currently there is no training requirement, so if it's not store policy, why are you continually adding to the problem with new untrained users buying stuff daily.

All I know is I better see people showing fishing licenses before being able to buy fishing line. That stuff kills all kinds of birds and fish. Not to mention lead weights. Think of the environment. Hell I've had more fishing hooks stuck in me then bullet holes.

I guess if your goal was to bankrupt the NRA that would be easiest way to do it as their training silo accounts for (last I heard) about 70% of their income. That way we wouldnt have to worry about training, no one would be able to own them to begin with. If thats the moderate in you, I'd hate to hear your more extreme views.

Personally I think ccw reciprocity would be nice so that I don't take a wrong turn in Easton and become a felon, but maybe that's just the crazy in me.

Im a strong proponent of training but i would never support mandatory training. I think we've seen time after time that training, like permits and fid cards and other roadblocks are used to delay and ultimately deny us our rights. Id love free top notch firearms training to be available whenever I wanted to take it and wherever, then i might get onboard but thats not the reality. What other constitutional right requires a training course to exercise?

I have no way to independently verify the number unfortunately, only by what someone on the NRA training board told me. If you are correct, I'm honestly stunned by the amount of contributions they pull in. Either way I don't see why a private entity should be required to provide services for free?

If you're asking me if I agree with the laws, no I do not. If you're asking me on a public forum if i flaunt the current laws, no matter how unjust, I'm going to say I follow all local state and federal laws. If you're asking me if I ever see anything in this state outside of eventual confiscation based on our current path, I do not. They think we are a joke with no teeth and no will and could care less what we have to say. If you are asking if I think anything will be changed without a more forceful recall option, I do not.

I'm not sure which you think is silly, that the training would not be used to deny your rights? Like in Illinois where you need at least 16 hours of special training and $150 to apply? I'll remember that next time it takes me 6 months to apply for a handgun permit that i should legally have in less than 30, when I'm then required to submit to another background check when I actually puck it up. Better yet I won't. I'm out of here in less than 10 days. My wife and I are taking our jobs and our taxable income and fleeing this place like many others. Cooler heads and moderates have compromised our rights away and have made NJ unlivable.
