S&W rubber band gun, kinda cool.

Recommended Posts

That is awesome, but, also Illegal in NJ, if i'm not mistaken... As are airsoft and paintball guns, seeing as both fire a projectile using compressed air/gas or spring power. Makes you wonder if, if you piss off a cop, they could throw you in jail for possession of a firearm if you have an airsoft gun? And i dont mean carrying it, i mean just like shooting in your backyard or something.

Dude has to be a mechanical engineer or the like.  He is a genius with wood and has WAY too much spare time!

Whatever he is, t was more than I'd wanna tackle.

I was quite impressed with both the design and execution of it, for sure.

That is amazing craftsmanship.

I have visions of someone defining it as a "slingshot"—illegal in NJ AFAIK— because of the rubber bands.

I'm thinking that means my thumb and forefinger on my left hand are also illegal when combined with the same digits on the other hand if that's the case.

I thought it was the "sl U ngshot that was illegal, no?

In theory, yes, but in NJ:

From Nappen:

"Slingshots became banned in New Jersey when the law was adopted because some idiot didn't know the difference between a 'slungshot' and a slingshot," reads a passage from the book …"Originally the prohibition was to be for 'slungshots' which is something similar to a blackjack and primarily used for hitting people on the head. Unfortunately some legislative geek changed the 'U' to an 'I' and slingshot became a 'per se weapon.'"

It would be hilarious…if I didn't live here.

Yeah, i know, i live in Woodbridge..... haha.

We used to airsoft in parks and such, but the park rangers always gave us the OK. We even once filmed a short film in highschool using airsoft guns, in full tactical gear and all.

Came out pretty good, but anyhow, the point is that noone got shot.. or arrested... I believe the police stopped us once and they were cool with it.

That said, we weren't driving around shooting out of windows and such, it was all done in wooded areas and such.

Wikipedia about slungshot:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slungshot

"They were also known as "slingshots," but had nothing to do with what is now known as a slingshot. Many jurisdictions' laws against "slingshots" were actually meant to refer to slungshots."

Hmm...  Good luck explaining this to a judge...
