Can Anyone Identify This Pistol?

I came across this on another forum and am completely intrigued by it.  I know that there are some serious study-ers of firearms and maybe one of them will chime in.  

 

If CZ, Beretta, a 1911 and a Detonics had a foursome and a bast#$d child appeared, it would most likely be this pistol.

Check the video i sent you on the detonics seecamp conversion.  This pistol looks the same and the trigger guard is a good giveaway.  

 

The non-detached trigger is another giveaway.  The factory trigger has been cut but if you look at the back its still there.

Looks like a Detonics.  One of those on my wish list.

Got the answer:

 

It's a "whacked out vintage detonics combatmaster. Mods include seecamp D/A conversion, bobtailed, and chopped in 45 acp. I also have the original 38 super slide thats been modded to fire 9x23 win as well. Hard chromed, tuned and branded stage 3 cobra by Virgil @ Tripp performance."

I figured it was a Detonics base gun with some custom features to throw all of us off. Virgil was a good smith who liked to experiment alot. Was it him who did all the custom work or just the hard chrome ?

I copy/pasted the owner's response.  I'm guessing that Virgil did the work but haven't heard anything further.  It's a really neat little pistol.  I would want to own one as a curio if I owned stuff as curios.  Nothing more, for me.

I've heard 649's are hard to come by. I do feel the urge for another tattoo........but not enough to take the pistol out of my pocket.
