NJ Gun Clubs

Recommended Posts

I belong to Lake Island Rifle and Pistol in Carteret.

Primarily it is a Bullseye shooting club with an indoor 25 yard range but it is not horribly expensive to belong to and is close enough that I can go and shoot after work if I want to. You don't have to shoot Bullseye but there are some rules of the club that are Bullseye oriented like only using bullseye type targets (no zombies, animals, silhouette, etc). This annoys my wife who likes the shooting game type targets like battleship or whatever (she's a better shot then I am so usually she wins but it keeps me practicing harder to try and beat her at them :) )

We have a junior rifle league on Weds and Raritan Valley Pistol League shoots matches on Tuesdays over the winter.

Occasionally we have 900 and 2700 matches and Junior league matches usually on Fridays or weekends when the range is not available because of those competitions but all that is posted on the club calendar well in advance.

I just joined Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club

Here was my criteria for selecting a club:

  • reasonably close by
  • they actively host a variety of action shooting events: IDPA, USPSA, Steel
  • moderate dues and initiation fee
  • currently accepting new members
  • outdoor range has a variety of yardages/pits

Anyone on here belong to any sort of gun club or group here in the state of nj? If so, which one, where is it located, perks to being a member, etc?

I'm from Cranford,  Belong to OBRPC.  Takes about 20 minutes to get to the out door range, 25 to the indoor.  The indoor is open 24/7 (10 25yd spots) , Outdoor is 9-1/2 hr before dusk IIRC.  50, 100yd ranges +a number of Pits 25-35 yds.

As a note:  there are a LOT of competitions on weekends.  So if weekends are your only options,  the Outdoor range is often used for these competitions from 9-4

Here's a link to the event calendar so you can see if this is what you are looking for
