I always wondered why people who moved from NJ were active on NJ Gunforums

I w=always wondered why people that moved from NJ to free states were still active on the site.  I moved to VA this summer and received my CCW in 14 days (due to the fact that a circuit court judge signed off). I carry everywhere (2 guns).  I know that I will continue to visit the site because of the drama.  

 

I can't find any site in VA with the same drama.  Nobody asking about ccw, transfers, etc.  I went back to NJ last week to pack up the last of the stuff to bring to VA. The reason that most continue to frequent the site is the NJ drama.  I can't find any forums in VA with people complaining about the state and firearms.

 

The only recommendation I have is move, NOW.  NJ is toxic.  My wife is a north Jersey person who can't believe how nice it is here.  the school system is better, it is way less expensive to live, etc.

I've been visiting web forums for nearly 20 years and I still visit some that I don't have attachment to such as car forums where I sold the car years ago for the sense of community.  Drama threads can be interesting but they get old fast but this may be partly because I see/hear so much public and private industry drama that I burn out on drama pretty quickly.  I also like meme threads because, well, who doesn't like memes?

I'd be out of here in a heartbeat if i had a job lined up somewhere. Unfortunately, i am fairly 'unskilled'; i make a living selling my stuff online, but once i move i wont have a supply or anything like that..

I went to college for 2.5 years and would like to finish, but until then, i've got nuthin really going for me. Here, at least i make a few bucks on the side on my fathers property so i've always got someone helping me out if god forbid i need it..
If i move to VA or any free state, i'm screwed; its just me, my 1YO and my Fiance.. Here, my mom or her family watch the baby so that she can work, etc... You just can't replace some things with freedom, haha.

Because you know how robust NJ gun owners are. They are constantly swimming up stream to protect their rights as the communist legislature continues to chip away at the 2a. Additionally it's my roots. Other than the warmer weather I love NJ. I can't stay between the taxes, the financial cliff they are headed for, and the aggressive;y -regressive direction they are headed.

I made some good friends on this board and at the range before I left there. Still in touch with them. I think we all still root for you guys that hopefully hell will freeze and the laws will change. We also have some knowledge to provide to new members.

Then there is the status of the fight. I go on Calguns from time to time and I have zero connection to Cali. Just curious what is going on with respect to the 2A.

 

When I first came here I had more in mind. Showing off, inspiring, educating, learning, sell off the Jersey gear I did not want, everything good and bad (but not too bad) that you can think of. I have completed all of that (except learning) and it's now what's above, my ongoing connections to the state and the fact that Jersey is one of the few states that is severely oppressed and has a real fight on its hand.

People who moved out of state should share this site with their gun friends in their new free homeland. Make them realize that what happens in anti states doesn't always stay there. People leave anti states (Cali to Texas, NJ to PA or Carolinas, FL, VA or just about anywhere, etc) and will bring their attitudes and political leanings with them. They'll demand their new home state be more like where they came from, which makes zero sense to most people but we all know most libs don't make sense.

 

So by all means, share this site. Keep people vigilant in other states. Maybe a few out of staters will even help our causes.
