S&W M&P 15/22 temporarily banned at Appleseed events

Recommended Posts

Anyone see this article:

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/09/15/breaking-sw-mp-1522-rifles-banned-appleseed-events-due-run-away-battery-firing/

Looks like they have had failures with injuries with 15/22 rifles so they are banned until S&W can investigate and resolve the problems.

My wife is looking at getting one of these so I have been researching them for her. I'll be watching this closely to see how S&W responds...

Jim,

I've had a 15-22 for years and have never had an issue.

If you or your wife want to take it for a spin one Sunday let me know and I'll bring it to the club.

I'd avoid that rifle. It'll get your house raided

what do you mean .... why?

also wonder what brand of ammo used in these instances , S&W is very specific on what "NOT" to use in the 15-22

i.e.  "Thundercrud"

I must be getting slow in my old age, but I have no idea what he did there.

I too have had a 15-22 for years with no problems  I used to get some occasional jams when using Federal bulk ammo.  But since switching to CCI Tactical .22LR and occasional Mini-mags, the thing has run like a champ.

But the issues that Appleseed is talking about are run away and out of battery firing.
