Narrowed My Research Down To Two 10mm's...Decision Made

Recommended Posts

So I have one more permit, expires Dec 4th...Already have all 3 Glock 10mm's and looking for another...Narrowed down to either RIA TAC 5" or EAA Witness Hunter...anyone have either of these? Thoughts from actual shooting experience welcomed. Vendors, I also have price requests sent out for these.

Thanks Paul, I like their TAC line.

Have not had time to try my RIA 1911 in 10mm after sending it back to them to repair. I was told to get the Colt, should have listened!

Which model RIA did you get and what was wrong with it?

If you want to get something totally different, none 1911 type such as the Colt Delta Elite, have you considered looking on Gun Broker for any of the excellent condition, used S&W Model 1006 pistols? If not, they are definitely worth considering. I bought mine back in 1991, soon after they came out, when it was a very popular model in S&W's 3rd Generation semi auto pistol line. I do not shoot it hardly at all anymore, as I like to keep it in my safe I recently purchased. The 1006 is a very solid, & heavy 39 ounces of stainless steel, & it really helps to keep the recoil totally manageable. The last time that I did use it at my local indoor range, I put a few Hornady 180 grain JHP's through it, & several other shooters came over to ask me what I was using, as it did produce quite a large muzzle blast. I really like it a lot & wish that I could put some more rounds through it. I did recently buy 3 boxes of the new Sig Sauer ammo in 180 grain FMJ that is rated about 1250 fps. I may have to bring it with me the next time I get to the range & put a full 50 round box through it, just to have some good old fashioned fun! Hopefully you do pick out another 10mm pistol that you really like, & have a lot of fun shooting it, along with your Glock 20.

You have a 29?  I'm down to get one of those.

Also, the Delta Elite Gen 2 are out and they are more 1911 than the originals.  I have an original and really l but my next 10mm 1911 is going to be the Kimber.  I also have the EEA Match Witness in 10 and it shoot like a dream.  I can only hope mine, very recent vintage, doesn't, have the frame crack problems.

Due to the timing along with Christmas right round the corner, I've decided to go with the RIA TAC Ultra FS 10mm...See if I can get lucky at Oaks this coming w/e, if not I'll just grab one off GB.

I bought an Ultra Match, 6" barrel. It had bad trigger creep, that they fixed, it is perfect now. Sometimes failure to eject, no problems with that now. The biggest problem I had was the inaccuracy. At 7 yards, no problem. At 15 yards, pattern starting to spread, but still ok. At 25 yards, it is junk! Was shooting three different types of ammo off a bench rest. Had my S&W 610 revolver with me, Used the same ammo, I was fine, 4" circle at most, not as good as other people, but that's good enough for me. The RIA had about a 12" grouping. Well, after getting it back, that has not changed. I will let some of my buddies try it and see what they think. In the meantime, I have a $1200 gun that makes a nice bang, nice muzzle flash, but besides an up-close-and-personal weapon, it is junk.  :(

Give you $500 for it lol

I find this interesting...sounds like a "one off" or small lot of guns having an issue as the general consensus between the 10mm FB page I'm on and other Google searches/reviews the RIA have all been favorable. I personally would almost never be shooting pistol at 15yards let alone 25 lol...all my pistol shooting is within 12 yards give/take...Appreciate this feedback!

That's beautiful ... I'm assuming that's a single stack 8 rounder.. I'm kinda liking the high capacity 16 rd but I know it's a NO NO in NJ... unless I can find a dealer who can make it NJ compliant..

Sure is an attractive Firearm.. how does it hold and how is the machining? I see you have the full shroud.. bet you're liking that...

I know you are talking handgun, but to me high capacity is a 100 round drum, standard capacity is 30 rounds.
