RDS on a Glock 17 Gen4

Trying to help a friend with his RDS questions for his G17 gen4.  He only has factory sights as of now.  I'm reading up on the MOS mounting system.  Other than that, I'm clueless.  Is there anything y'all can add to help out with this project.

Does he have a MOS? Whilemits easily adaptable I like having the slides milled.

Got some more info from him.  It's not MOS compatible, does not have the two torx screws.  He's not keen on getting it milled so we'll have to work around that.

The ALG 6 Second mount is an option as well as Dueck Defense mount that mount to rear sight dovetail. I have 5 RMRs and a Vortex Venom. Want to try other optics but have had no issues with the above mentioned ones.

The Vortex Venom is on the top of his list.  Seems like a good sight, has a pretty wide fov.

All RDS have an "entire world" FOV if used correctly - open both eyes. The size of the window should not be a major deciding factor.

 

Reliability, switching, battery life, height over bore - these are the more important questions.

 

If used as a defensive gun, avoid self adjusting RDS. The dot washes out when shooting in low-light/no-light in conjunction with a white light for target ID.

 

Without milling the slide he will be unable to get suppressor height irons to co-witness as BUIS.

ATOM Slide is an option for different RDS. Suarez international slides are an option with great slides regardless of your opinion of him.
