My wife wants to move there. I said no. The traffic is appalling most times of the day, except for Sunday. Christmas season is nuts. Schools are good, and the taxes are better than most for Bergen County. There was a guy on Gun For Hire Radio complaining about the permit wait times, extra forms, and hoops to jump through in Paramus. I think it was last season, so I have no idea if the situation has improved.

I concur.  The traffic is better on Sundays because most of the stores are closed. Paramus has all kinds of "blue laws" that make it illegal to sell certain things on Sundays.  Taxes are lower due to all the tax revenue from the shopping malls.  That's the same as with Englewood Cliffs and the business located there.

How long is change of address ?

How is the sentiment about permits?

I live in Paramus.  I applied for my FID mid June and I received a week after labor day.

The PD here is awesome.  The detectives I dealt with were the greatest and most encouraging guys.  Very pleasant to deal with.   They don't want to upset the residents but they are short staffed thus making the process much longer.  I had picked up the FID and P2P late on a Friday (after 530pm).  They were working though all the FID paperwork they had and calling residents.

I had my wife submit for an FID +2 P2P.  She began the process beginning of October  - still waiting.  I applied for +2 P2P around the same time as well - still waiting.

There are no "extra forms".  Standard 2 forms and then references.  Once you get your fingerprints done through the 3rd party provider (if applying for initial FID), the records department sends out the references letters the next day.  When applying for P2P permits, you need to go online to order the background check and show proof to the records department who then send out the reference letters.

My references received their letters with 3-5 days from the time the Records dpt promised to do so.

I am very happy with our process here.  I lived here all my life.  Taxes low.  Schools are great.  Traffic is bad on Saturdays but sundays its soooo quite.  I love it!

Hope this helps!
