Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted November 28, 2016 My neighbor is a retired LEO and is considering selling his original duty gun, a Glock 19. Being that he has been retired for 14 years, and on the force for 25, I'm assuming this is a first generation. Not being Glock "fluent" (hey, if it doesn't have a cylinder, what do I know?) I'm asking the collective wisdom of the board if the early Glocks are more desirable than the later ones, or maybe arrange the four generations in their order of desirability. How about a range of prices for a Gen I with two or three mags. Thanks. Adios, Pizza Bob
Vlad G 345 Posted November 28, 2016 Dude, it is a glock. I has the collectible value of a Homer 5 gallon bucket, useful for many things and serviceable much longer then one would expect, but I'm not sure that desirable based on version enters in the conversation, except perhaps for some form of extreme 80's gun fetish aficionado.
Parker 213 Posted November 28, 2016 A "Gen 1" G19 is actually quite an anomaly. It should look like this. If it doesn't it's not a Gen 1:
intercooler 41 Posted November 28, 2016 I first gen glock 19 is EXTREMLY collectible and very rare
45Doll 5,873 Posted November 28, 2016 Interesting question. There are no Glock 19s Gen 1 for sale on Gunbroker. There is one Glock 17 Gen 1 'collectible' starting at $805. There are currently 9 bidders.
diamondd817 826 Posted November 28, 2016 The last Glock 19 Gen 1 that came up on gunbroker went for about $6,000. Very rare, as they were more of a prototype and never a production gun. If I recall they were basically just cut down from Glock 17's. 99.9℅ it's a Gen 2. Not really that rare but are somewhat collectable.
blksheep 466 Posted November 28, 2016 Let me chime in... Probably not a Gen 1. But until we can confirm... lets say it is and it would probably be best served on Gunbroker. I have 2 Gen2s and paid right around $350ish from LGS here in NJ. One had Glock papers confirming a complete rebuild. There is collector value for some if it is Austrian proof marked. Pics would be able to tell. Even then the kids these days like the light rail and 3 pins, esentially a 3rd gen.

10X 3,296 Posted November 28, 2016 In light of the "Glock Perfection" tagline the company plasters over everything, why do the newer generations exist at all?

You should google "young Hellen Mirren". Even perfection ages, even when it does so gracefully.
