High Exposure 5,635 Posted December 6, 2016 Can you mount the FastFire III at 45 degrees Mounting it at 45* off the main rail is the "A" answer here. The RDS above the magnified optic is less than ideal for social occasions.
MacDan 20 Posted December 9, 2016 It may not be ideal, but I actually like it where it is a lot more than I thought it would.
Junior 14 Posted December 31, 2016 Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm searching myself for either a RDS or a 1-4x scope. Just curious why the Aimpoint pro was the go-to RDS over the Eotech 512.

In short quality and integrity, Eotech has proven over and over that they don't have much of either.
Junior 14 Posted December 31, 2016 Wow. Glad I asked. I was just about to hop on a great deal. Now I see why it was such a great deal Thanks
Alex V 99 Posted January 2, 2017 Wow. Glad I asked. I was just about to hop on a great deal. Now I see why it was such a great deal Thanks http://soldiersystems.net/2015/11/27/the-l-3-communications-settlement-with-the-us-government-over-fraud-charges-stemming-from-eotech-holographic-weapon-sights/ I never liked EOTech sights, way before they were proven to be crap. Advised several friends not to get them, none listened. Oh well. If you want an RDS, go with Aimpoint. If you want an MRDS the RMR seems to be the ticket.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted January 2, 2017 As an alternative for an EoTech there is Holosun. http://www.holosun.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=65&product_id=93 Vortex has a new product that is similar to an EoTech, but not quite the knock off that the Holosun is. http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/razor_amg_uh-1_red_dot Optics Planet has the Vortex for $499. If I didn't have problems with red dots and holographic weapon sights due to astigmatism, I would have ordered one already.
High Exposure 5,635 Posted January 2, 2017 I just got a Holosun about 2 months ago. Still putting it through its paces on a training gun, but so far it's holding up. Zeroing was weird - I had to bottom out the adjustments before the clicks worked, but after that it worked as it was supposed to. On a related note, Holosun makes the Romeo optics for Sig and Priamary Arms. The Sig Romeo series was just approved for duty use by the FBI: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/11/18/exclusive-fbi-approves-use-sig-romeo4m/
Displaced Texan 11,653 Posted January 2, 2017 The Trijicon MRO is a good optic. Much smaller and lighter than the SRS, and a wider FOV than Aimpoint.
Shane45 807 Posted January 2, 2017 I like new things to review. But Im always cautious about paying early adopter tax. The MRO seems to be in that category. Many issues reported of which reliability seems to be one of them. Maybe wait for the gen 2?
Displaced Texan 11,653 Posted January 2, 2017 I hear ya. Much like the SRS, the first few hundred units of the MRO had issues that Trijicon took care of. Blooming dots, and even a few cases of total electronic failure. While I don't own a MRO (I DO have an SRS), I haven't heard anything bad about the MRO since the initial teething problems. Think the bugs are worked out now...I hope.
