bhunted 887 Posted December 1, 2016 Just got a dozen Gen 2 15/30 Hexmags. Batch 10/16... Took advantage of the Turkey Day sale. As I do with all my mags, especially new. I run a full mag, bolt closed, bolt open, drop free full and empty. First did drop tests. I tested them with my M4 and X95. - X95 dropped empty and full, no prob. - M6 only dropped half of the batch full, none empty. Had same prob with PMags occasionally. - now, the feed test. All fed no probs. Here is where things went tits up. After feeding one round, I'd remove the mag and check for any probs with mag. As I removed them, the darn things rattled. I was able to dump out the remainder 14 rounds by just shaking the mag upside down. I'm like, what the hell!!! Look inside and the follower stopped half way up and jammed. Ugh! Never seen this before... Took it apart and saw nothing unusual. No plastic mould bits, nada. As I was trying to figure it out, all the mags sitting next to me started popping free. Geezus, what the frack! Called up Wise. They are contacting Hexmag. They said they never heard this issue before. Shame because never had one issue with any of the Gen 1 versions. They are not available anymore. So can't swap out. Anyone else have this prob with the Gen 2s??? Here is a family shot under the tree. One for every day. [emoji57] Here they are packed up ready to go back. Very disappointing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
9X19 125 Posted December 1, 2016 I bought a couple but have not tested them yet. Up until now I have always used steel USGI, and Pmags.

Lalo 13 Posted December 1, 2016 Hexmags failing? This is my surprised face... I know they're cheap and poorly made and the manufacturer obviously knows this because they replace them on a whim, but damn. PMags can be found for $10 nowadays with the holiday sales....
raz-0 1,259 Posted December 1, 2016 "As I was trying to figure it out, all the mags sitting next to me started popping free." What exactly does that mean? Just started spewing out rounds while sitting there? They all had the follower stuck partway down form your test and all started freeing up and returning to a normal position? Curious what that actually means.

First of all, where the hell you find NJ bastardized pmags for NJ for that price? Second, I have a ton of Gen 1s that never had an issue. The Gen2s are actually more stronger than the pmags imho. I don't think they are poorly mad and at $8bux and change, they are not bad. Haters will hate and till I get the fook out of NJ, we got to make the best of what we are offered. bhunted 887 Posted December 1, 2016 Anyway, the rep from Hexmag called me and wants them all back. He thinks they might have a batch of bad followers from what I described. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

bhunted 887 Posted December 2, 2016 File the followers yourself. Done. Sent from an undisclosed location Was going to but if its not the followers, they may not want take them back after I eff them up.I have plenty of mags, I can wait. So let them make it right. If others start having these probs and my effort of working with Hexmag helps solve a prob, then thats a good thing. Shocker 150 Posted December 2, 2016 My hexmags have all worked fine, even dropped free BETTER than my pmags. And when I noticed I could fit 16 rounds in my gen 1's they sent me all new gen 2's on their dime. I predict they'll take care of ya. bhunted 887 Posted December 8, 2016 Sorry I didn't follow up on this earlier. Last week when the problem occurred, I decided to troubleshoot the problem. Hexmag gave me permission to cut or sand and if it still didn't work, they'd send me new ones. They have a lifetime warranty. After hours and many rounds loaded and unloaded, testing, etc., I found the problem and confirmed with Hexmag on the phone. They reproduced the problem. There are 2 tabs on top of the riser that hold the spring on. What hapoens is if you go with a full mag on a closed bolt or really slam in the mag hard, it forces an extra coil to wrap around either one of the tabs. Getting caught caused the spring to not fully expand up. That left the remaining 14 rounds to just lay loose in the mag. So I took an Xacto knife and shaved off a thin layer off the outside of each tab. After doing that, the spring coil above it just slipped off and all is well. They will be looking into the riser moulds to see if there were any probs with excess plastic. I have to say, they were fantastic to work with. I originally called Wise from where I got them and Ken contacted Hexmag. I was expecting a call back from Ken, but Hexmag called me and we worked together on the issue. They are going to send me a nice care package for all the trouble. Great people! Not like some companies that give you a song and dance show and say your crazy. Big thumbs up! bhunted 887 Posted December 9, 2016 pics of the bits you shaved? maybe a before and after? Didn't take any pics of the stubs. You wouldn't be able to see any difference because it was so minute. I can show you the nubs and how to test if yours is doing it and where to shave if you want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
