purchasing a gun from an estate-no will

I'll be purchasing a handgun from a person that does not have a FID . This person inherited the gun from someone that didn't have a will but is the legal heir, is executor of the estate, and the gun is NJ legal. I have a permit to purchase, what do they need to have in order to transfer the gun?

The gun. They leave the FID space blank, that is all.  It is assumed the seller is a NJ resident, otherwise an FFL is required to do the transfer.

Yes they are a NJ resident. They don't need any forms to be notorized showing they are executor. I bought a trailer once under the same circumstances and the seller had to give me a notarized form for the motor vehicle department showing they were executor of the estate.

Its a FPID card- Firearms Purchaser ID card. Seller doesnt need one to sell.

No where in the law does it state that the seller have to have FPID.

 

You are satisfied that its legal and legit ?. Pay, get the paperwork filled out, get your copy of doc, tell the seller to mail his obligation,  get the firearm and enjoy.

I bought my H&K P7 PSP from someone "My Uncle" that got it from an estate. It's his legal firearm. He's legally allowed to sell it to you if you're legal and have the paperwork to purchase it.

I would at least ask for a photo ID (drivers license) and jot that DL# down on my copy of the P2P.  This at least shows that you verified that the seller info on the P2P is legit!
