Remington 514 info

Recommended Posts

Picked up this Remington 514 single shot the other day. Appears to have an almost plum colored stock. I'm not sure if that's original or not.

I know they made a boys carbine version as a youth model, but this is only stamped 514,no BC

Looking to get some info from the experts.

I have a 514, my stock is brown. That doesn't mean your isn't original finish. I do know that when wood is treated with linseed oil, as the oil oxidized it takes on a reddish tint, this could be what is causing the plum color on your stock.
