Princetonian58 53 Posted January 5, 2017 I have a Springfield XDS chambered in .45. Recently, when the action is closed, the end of the guide rod protrudes about a quarter inch out from the slide vs. being flush. Had the gun sent back to the factory for review and repair if necessary. Factory claims that this is normal and will not impair the firearm's function. Anyone out there encountered this before? Any ideas why this has occurred? Thanks.
bdhszy1 18 Posted January 5, 2017 I have an XDS45 also and never took noticed this. Laying a business card across the end of the barrel, my guide rod protrudes exactly as far as the barrel.
Hairless_Ape 76 Posted January 10, 2017 If you're describing it correctly, an image search for "XDS 45" will confirm that it's normal. It protrudes out of the slide, making it about even with or slightly past the end of the barrel.
nnjrescue1 14 Posted January 12, 2017 I assume you guys are speaking of the 3.3"? I have a 3.3 9mm and the guide rod protrudes just a hair further than the end of the barrel. On my 4.0 45acp, the guide rod is barely visible down in the frame as it looks to be the same length as the one in my 9.
