590 Shockwave, NJ legal?

Recommended Posts

So since Nappen was again wrong about the Shockwave what about the new Ithaca Stakeout II with heat shield and Folding foregrip?  Does it matter?

I actually had to look that up... you are a terrible human being! [emoji23]

Still want the TAC-13, but want one of those, as well.

Hey all!  Long time no type!  Hope all are coping well, up there.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I wanted to try and get a reading on the "legality" of the Shockwave in current times (2021).  I've read all the Nappen articles from 2017-2018, and I understand that many on here feel Nappen was wrong about the "Destructive Device"  clause making them illegal in NJ.  I just wanted to see if that has changed in more recent times.  @remixer Steve. maybe you could provide some more insight?

The reason I ask is that I currently own two of them in Florida.  But I plan to give one of them to my nephew who is just graduating college.  The question becomes, where does he settle after graduation.  If he will remain in NJ but at his own residence (not with his mom, my sister, who won't allow firearms in the house), then I could FFL it to him. But I don't want to risk that if there's a significant risk that he might be prosecuted for possessing one in NJ. I'll keep it here for him in FL to use when he comes down or, perhaps, when he does settle somewhere else (in a free state).  I'm doing something similar with my niece (his older sister) who just graduated Physical Therapy school (she has her doctorate (PtD) and just passed her licensing exam in Virginia. She'll be getting a RIA 1911 .45acp when she gets me her updated DL.

Anyway, hope you are all doing very well.  I'm doing well in FL.  I've branched into long range shooting now and recently acquired a "Ruger Precision Rifle" in .308 Win.  It's a beast! I'm looking to take some long range shooting classes, here in Fl.

I'm officially "retired" now, but I do a little side work here and there. I might even become an NRA instructor for basic firearms.

If any of you might come down this way, let me know and I'll take you to my range.  There's a 2000 yrd range on it.

Thanks, and take care for now.

Regards,
Arnold

Hey Arnold.  The 590 Shockwave is still deemed an Other firearm federally, so it's still 100% legal here.

Thanks much! I appreciate it.

BTW, I traded up a little... I have an upgrade for you... Don't stick my voodoo doll too much!  :D

I do like the 940JM - I shot it at SHOT Show and got my hands on one for some reviews...
