Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 18, 2017 http://www.mossberg.com/category/series/590-shockwave/ Interesting, I wish it said 50 state legal instead of no BATF paperwork.

JohnnyB 4,323 Posted January 18, 2017 From Ammoland on the 590 Shockwave. "Disclaimer: Although the Mossberg 590 Shockwave is classified as a “firearm” under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), and is not subject to the provisions of the National Firearms Act (NFA), state and local laws may be more restrictive. Even though, it is legal federally, the 590 Shockwave may be considered a “short-barreled” shotgun or “assault weapon” by certain state and local laws; and therefore illegal to possess. Please check with your local authorities concerning the legality of possessing a firearm of this configuration." Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 18, 2017 Paul, like everything else in NJ. The law is what I say it is!
Bt Doctur 188 Posted January 18, 2017 If that was legal why not just cut the stock to match and cut the barrel to 14 inches of any other shotty
PK90 3,570 Posted January 18, 2017 If first made into a shotgun, the barrel can't be made less than 18" without a tax stamp. Sent from an undisclosed location

NJGF 375 Posted January 18, 2017 It is not manufactured with a shoulder stock so it is not a NJ shotgun. If it is a smooth bore pump handgun (not semi-automatic so no weight maximums). But it fires a cartridge over .60 caliber which is only valid in a shotgun (which this is not) so doesn't it become a "Destructive Device" which is not NJ legal? PK90 3,570 Posted January 18, 2017 ... so doesn't it become a "Destructive Device" which is not NJ legal? YES, according to the NJSP FIU as told to me back in 2004. Long story. Sent from an undisclosed location

Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 18, 2017 Paul, it's not legal in NJ. So I can't get one. Maybe a road trip to your bunker in Montana and we can shoot one together?

Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 18, 2017 "Sawed-off shotgun" means any shotgun having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length measured from the breach to the muzzle, or a rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length measured from the breach to the muzzle, or any firearm made from a rifle or a shotgun, whether by alteration, or otherwise, if such firearm as modified has an overall length of less than 26"
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 18, 2017 The "modified" wording is getting to me. Since it isn't modified, and it's coming from the factory like that does it still make it illegal?

RecessedFilter 222 Posted January 19, 2017 Curious what the difference is between the BA 8.5" barrel shotgun with arm brace and this. The BA is considered a pistol so you need a permit, but I'm guessing the Shockwave weighs more so it's not a pistol anymore?
