22 Nosler

Recommended Posts

Yea thats 4 different groups I'm sure a Marksman like yourself can do great things with a rifle but I don't give a shit about your critique just putting the info out there on a Rifle you can't find much info about yet.

Lol. Appropriate user name.

If anyones thinking about the new 22 Nosler this is what it does at 50 yrdsn1_zpsnt5hpjic.jpg with  62grHPd a

Based on bullet diameter looks like your getting about 1/2" groups @ 50.  Not bad for no serious load development.

As for the cartridge? 2-300fps more than .223Rem?  Doesn't really rock my boat.

Now that being said....If I had a heavy barrel .223 I was tired of I might think of rechambering it to 22Nosler.

Just find somebody with a reamer.  Without seeing all the critical dimensions it looks like you can just cut over the existing .223 chamber.

It is a .224 diamiter  Bullet like a .223 it is the casing that is proprietary Thats why you have to use a 6.8 SPC magazine and not a .223 mag these rounds will not fit in the 223 magazine. From top to bottom 22-250 -22 Nosler - .223 n1_zpszb5fcfru.jpg

Dude, shitty attitutde.

The point of the cartridge is in theory to have better ballistics. The standing questions most who even remotely give a crap about it are

1) how fast can you push it with something like a 77gr OTM in it.

2) what's the ballistics like in the real world.

3) can you keep the speed and the accuracy together.

4) Is anyone building good barrels for it yet.

People want some data, which the pic doesn't really supply. You're just teasing with no info.

No I didn't look at the  224 AR to be honest I didn't even know it existed saw the video on the Nosler Then I saw the long range  test videos on YouTube and I had to have it. As far as the Barrel this upper and bullet are just out how can anybody have any info on the barrels. My only reason for buying it was for Predator Hunting so I'm sure I won't be wearing any barrels out anytime soon

The 224AR is cool.  6.5Grendel necked down to a .22.  A bit faster than the 22Nosler.  However with the factory brass and SAAMI specs the 22Nosler is gonna be the one to have.

As far as the barrels, I'm not knocking you.  You asked why anyone would rechamber and I gave a reason.  Nothing more.  Better barrels yield better consistency which often leads to better accuracy.  Not necessarily longer life.  Again, not a knock.

Good luck with it.  I may rebarrel my 223 bolt gun to this next winter.

Midway is selling the Barrels for $130 I think. Didn't think you were knocking me I don't know anybody to do that kind of work so it's quicker and easier for me to buy it however I find it very interesting and wish I did know someone that rechambered barrels not that I have anything available to rechamber although an M&P Upper may be crossing my path in the very near future from a trade so maybe that 224 AR might be worth checking out  where would I look for the information

6mmAR.com

Not a lot of info on it and it's gonna get more scarce as it's not a supported round.  It's a wildcat that some folks have a reamer for.  Barrels from AR15performance.com.

I'm not a reloader always wanted to never got around to it but the price of the 22 Nosler rounds will probably force me to learn I have a Lee single stage press but thats about it  I also just picked up an old single shot 22 Hornet it came with reloading Dies and i have plenty of brass and been saving the Nosler brass and I also recently bought A Rem 700 in 223 and saving the brass from that so it's probably time to pull the trigger on getting the rest of the equipment  and materials I need.

FWIW, that Lee single stage will do everything you need for now.  "invest" in good dies and you'll be fine.  CFE223 will be awesome for the 22Nosler and the 223Remington.  Won't work in the Hornet, but CFEBlack will.  As will both "H" and "IMR" 4198.
