Done With All DPMS Parts...

Recommended Posts

Started my A2 build, off of a Spikes lower. Got a DPMS lower parts kit, as well as their retail pack A2 stock. Been using their parts kits since my first build in 2008... which was a DPMS lower.

So, I start putting the screws in the stock... and opened the trapdoor. The latch fell right out and hit the ground. When it was built, they didn't put a pin to retain the latch in the door. Looked around (packaging and ground), no pin anywhere.

For an $80 stock, I'm a little annoyed. Emailed DPMS, with a picture of what I received... saying I would like that pin sent to me (no issue installing it). Got a reply today...

"That is a packaged part so it needs to be exchanged with the retailer."

Haven't sat down to reply yet, but I'll never buy another DPMS after that. Instead of sending me a couple cent pin, they actually want me to yank the stock off and exchange it for another. Really? I'm either going to do Magpul stock and handguards or get an A1 set (kind of leaning towards).

Sorry for the rant.

If you find an A1 length stock for a decent price, let me know. I prefer it to the A2 stocks, but they have been difficult to find.

I'll send you a PM of my source...

Don't get me wrong, DPMS was never my go to company... but their part kits were always good to go. I'm just shocked that they can tell me to exchange something I've already installed, when it was obviously their issue... not the dealer. I'll pay a little more and get a Stag or other company's part kit.

DPMS parts kits are GTG...  the last parts kit I installed had the best stock milspec trigger I've tried so far and had the cleanest break (6.5lbs if I remember).  kept that one in the bin as a backup

haven't used anything else from their offering though
