Junk removal

Recommended Posts

I used them when my mother passed and we had to get rid of her electric, hospital bed. I found it odd that nobody wanted it - couldn't give it away - so we had to pay someone to take it. Tried calling a local guy recommended by the assisted living facility - that was a mistake, highly unreliable. Called Got Junk and they were there exactly when they said they'd be. Called before they came. Personable, neat workers. It was a pleasure doing business with them, and it was only $10 more than the local guy ($120 vs $110). Not cheap but at least you don't get abused in the process.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I've had really good luck posting things in the "free" section of Craigslist. There seems to be no end to the crap people will haul off if they get it for free. And if you don't want to deal with the in-person visit, just schedule with the interested party, then say you can't be there but will leave the item at the curb. Voila-gone!

around here you leave that stuff at the curb and in 24 hours it's gone.

Yeah they do that here too, Sundays are the best day you usually see a few pickup trucks scouring the neighborhood.  I guess I can try that route first just not expecting them to take a few of the items (pool stairs).

Put it out the day/night before trash day.

Most stuff will be gone before the trash truck gets there.

I have also found placing a (sealed) case of soda/beer on top works wonders for the municipal trash haulers.  With a little incentive, they'll get near anything on the truck...

so true!, growing up at my mom's house we gave the garbage men a case of beer at the holidays and for the rest of the year they would take anything. I mean anything including a sectional sofa, moped, junk tires ect

You'd be surprised at what goes (and what doesn't).

I had some broken Rubbermade cabinets by the curb and they were gone in 10 minutes...

There's a scrapper in my neighborhood, he left me his number and whenever i have crap to get rid i call him.  He even takes the junk i know he cant sell or scrap just to make sure i always call him when i have decent stuff for him.  Its an awesome arrangement!

Tube tvs you should be able to take to town or county recycling center. My town takes any electronics. I dropped off an old broken dehumidifier, old printer and few other items to mine a few weeks ago. Saw old alarm clocks, vcrs, telephones etc in the electronics recylcing container.
