Looking for an inexpensive business phone provider.

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of setting up an office but wont know for at-least two months whether or not the state will approve the business.

But the initial application requires a phone line to be installed...

I'm looking for something cheap in the event I get denied and need to cancel the service.

Yes,

There is some hardware that needs to be purchased for the Google VOIP and the porting of a an existing phone number, but after that

the line is free of charge with a one cent per minute charge for international calls. It's kind of a pain in the butt at first but it pays off in the long run!

TBH, I think theyre looking for something that will ring to the phone at the desk in the office.

I was even thinking a cheap-o landline, do they even exist anymore?

My fax/ office is with Comcast. Soon to be dropped. My Nj business registration contact # is my cell. They just want a number

If you don't mind me asking what kind of business requires permission?

The best thing you can say about Google is their services are free but most of it is second rate. I switched to G' Docs about 2 months ago. It's a crappy word processor that barely does the job. Crashes incessently but I've never lost more than 10 seconds worth of work, which automatically makes it better than Word.

Plus ZERO-NO-NUMQUAM-ZILCHO-NADA customer service. You will be out of business before you get help from the forums. There are issues that are 5-6 years old that Google has not deigned to fix.

I just started using Ooma. About $99 to purchase, $5 a month to use (mostly taxes and 911 charge). Port existing number for $40 and add additional numbers. Lots of add on options for reasonable fees.

If you don't start uo business you can continue using for home phone. Wife and I are cutting 2/3 of cable company bill. Usimg Ooma for phone, streaming to tvs using Roku and Playstation Vue app. Keeping cable for internet only. Lowering cable bill by over $100 a month!
