Renaissance wax for milsurps

Howdy. Haven't been on in a long time, but my collection has swelled. The problem is that now I have too many guns to feasibly clean them and inspect them as regularly as I used to. To reduce the risk of the milsurps that I rarely shoot rusting, I bought some renaissance wax  to coat and protect them.

 

Does anyone have any advice for how to apply it, or if there's anything else I can do? I run a dehumidifier in the room, and have dehumidifier in each of my safes, but due to my living circumstances, I have to keep my guns in my basement.

 

I've been lucky that I haven't had any issues, but I want to ensure that I don't have any problems in the future.

I just read that Renaissance Wax should not be used for long term storage. The best method is Cosmoline on the metal. Personally I hate dealing with Cosmoline so I built a climate and humidity controlled vault. Light coat of oil is all that is needed if you can control the humidity and temp and there is air circulation. Stuffing 38 rifles in a 26 rifle safe you need to use Cosmoline.

What's the best way to go about applying cosmoline? Someone suggested that to me on facebook, but I assumed they were kidding. I thought Cosmo required  a big vat with melted cosmo, that the guns are dipped in. 

 

Plus I don't want the cosmo getting all over everything. I don't know much about applying cosmo to guns though.

With a rag, slightly warmed up, and only on the metal parts.

 

I also see if it available as an aerosol spray. Not sure if it works as good but I would bet it will do the job.

I use Ren Wax on all wood and brass. Works fantastic for that. Brings out the richness of wood while protecting it. It keeps polished brass from tarnishing. Also helps keep fingerprints to a minimum.

Just apply as instructed.

I would use fluid film. The stuff is thick.
