MartyZ 692 Posted March 11, 2017 I'm planning to go to Oaks 3/26 and possibly shopping for a pistol, new or used don't know yet. Has anyone had any experience with PA dealers NOT wanting to ship to NJ ffl those guns sold at gun shows? I just don't want to get my hopes up just to find out that they don't want to ship. T Bill 649 Posted March 11, 2017 Only way to know is to tell them upfront it needs to be transferred and give it a try.
WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot 358 Posted March 11, 2017 Bring cash, copies of your dealer FFL, packing material, and a prepaid shipping label. Offer the dealer cash and to box up the shipment for them so all they have to do is drop it in the mail.
Screwball 483 Posted March 11, 2017 If there is a NJ FFL there, they can transfer to them, and get you your gun... just would be the same as going to a NJ dealer. I've seen a few guys advertise that in the past few shows. Easy to talk to most dealers there... they want a sale.

Disposition must be made from an FFL's premise location or qualifying gun show within their state. Sent from an undisclosed location
mustang69 505 Posted March 12, 2017 Haven't you heard all the screaming from the dems about the gun show loophole? You should be able to get whatever you want without worrying about anything! Yes, sarcasm mode off.
brucin 923 Posted March 12, 2017 Illegal. Disposition must be made from an FFL's premise location or qualifying gun show within their state. Sent from an undisclosed location I think it is legal if the FFL transports the firearm back to his shop and the purchaser picks it up there after doing the usual Jersey stuff. permit, NJ state background check etc. That is just my opinion and I am not a lawyer but you have now given me a question to ask an attorney. Sent from an undisclosed location Then how do you get FFLs from Ohio selling at Oaks? You can call it illegal if you want, but I've seen multiple FFLs offering that service. Talk to them, not me. I personally don't go for a permit unless I have a gun picked up or held, waiting for shipment.

That is why I posted it. Sent from an undisclosed location

DeerSlayer 241 Posted March 13, 2017 Yes, that would be legal, but why? Sent from an undisclosed location Save the $5 on shipping is the only thing I can think of? I would rather have it shipped to the FFL at the hardware store in my town, and save the time and fuel driving to some other FFL. The shipping costs would be worth it to me. 9X19 125 Posted March 18, 2017 Just an extra unnecessary step. Just have them ship it to your FFL.
Tony13 59 Posted March 18, 2017 Sorry to hijack. But what about buying a shotgun? Can I just buy it with my FID card and bring it home?
MartyZ 692 Posted March 18, 2017 Yes. Any long gun, as long as it's NJ legal. You buy it on the spot and take it home
Bubba-NJ 0 Posted March 28, 2017 I was looking at a 9mm 1911 at a table, asked what the process would be since I'm from NJ, vendor flat out said he doesn't transfer to NJ. It all depends on the vendor I guess. I had my permit with me, didn't matter for that vendor. Walked up to another table and the clerk guessed I was from NJ and said he could sell me a rifle but not a handgun. I went to the show looking to get a feel for a couple guns I'm thinking of buying. Sig P229 Legion felt awesome, like it was made for my hand.
MartyZ 692 Posted March 28, 2017 I decided not to take a chance and ordered my gun locally. The funny thing is that I got it new for $14 more than a used one was selling for at the show.
