  1. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and the Air Force are in the DOD, but Congress placed the U.S. Coast Guard in Treasury because they wanted them to enforce Federal Laws. Nixon placed the CG into the DOT, and Bush placed them in DHS. The CG gets their authority to "enforce" Federal Laws under 14 USC 89. Under 14 USC 89 commissioned, warrant, and petty officers may at any time go on board of any vessel subject to the jurisdiction, or to the operation of any law, of the United States, address inquiries to those on board, examine the ship’s documents and papers, and examine, inspect, and search the vessel and use all necessary force to compel compliance. 14 USC 89 also states when from such inquiries, examination, inspection, or search it appears that a breach of the laws of the United States rendering a person liable to arrest is being, or has been committed, by any person, such person shall be arrested. So CG Commissioned, Warrant and Petty Officers are LE. The pinheads in the CG put out a message about two years ago stating their stance on LEOSA and tried to define what personnel may qualify under LEOSA. IMHO 14 USC 89 has not been changed or amended and clearly states who can enforce the Federal laws...so I think the CG SOP falls flat...as would the PD Chief's who don't agree w/ LEOSA and think they can stop their retired LE from being qual'd under LEOSA.
  2. Nothing any of you couldn't do. It was the typical basic course of fire. Holstered and timed from abt 15yds into 3yds with reloading. Both strong and weak hand...w/night time sorta. As a matter of fact, even though I felt intimidated by the LE around me I kept it tight with my Kimber. A shooter next to me said he didn't know the CG could shoot. His target looked like he use a 12ga w/ 00 and he still passed. Lol
  3. Really 94% non-leo approved! Wonder what my chances are? I retired from the USCG September 2012...was a qual'd Boarding Officer for 24 yrs. I fall under LEOSA H.R.218 (yes CG is LE and LEOSA does apply). Not that I neeade the NJ CCW, but to be on the safe side...I shot the required NJ course of fire, submitted the proper Ret. LEO CCW paperwork along with the two types of payment back in late October. It's March...and I ain't heard jack! No approval or denial. I'm going to have to re-qual next month if this takes any longer.
  4. If based on the valid and logical arguments from Gura...we win. If based on Judges not wanting to upset the apple cart...NJ wins. My gut...the Judges do not upset the apple cart. Sorry..logic never ever seems to win.
  5. I "neead" to say...most of you on this forum appear to be more intelligent than the AAG.
  6. When I first started to listen to this I thought they were being very hard on Alan Gura. Then I listened to them with the AG and thought...OMG is this a joke? Is she really a lawyer and this unprepared? The one Judge asked her some solid questions and she just started to babble. The older Judge tried to step in and rehabilitate her but she didn't take the lifeline. BTW, WTH is "neead"? Anyway, I think we have a good shot. If I'm wrong and these Judges fall on the side of the State after her horrendous argument...I'll give up on the system. Wish us luck! 9. GOOoo!!!! Even if you have to sit on the Judges lap<<< kinder gentler gun community
  10. Somebody is lucky I'm not carrin' my gun! Oh wait I forgot...I live in NJ..."No gun for you"
