  1. So if someone getting charged with 4th degree offense for having hollow ammo at home - judge should dismiss the charges once this link is provided?
  2. Most posts say its legal to own at home. Where does the sitation fits into the picture?
  3. Any lawyers out there... Does this citation means Hollow points are illegal in NJ? The exception in red below - does it say it is LEGAL to keep hollow ammo at home? link: http://www.njsp.org/about/fire_hollow.html N.J.S.A 2C:39-3f(1) limits the possession of hollow nose ammunition. However, there is a general exception that allows for the purchase of this ammunition but restricts the possession of it to specified locations. This exception provides that: (2) Nothing is sub section f (1) shall be construed to prevent a person from keeping such ammunition at his dwelling, premises or other land owned or possessed by him, or from carrying such ammunition from the place of purchase to said dwelling or land . . . [N.J.S.A 26:39-3g (2)]. Thus a person may purchase this ammunition and keep it within the confines of his property. Sub section f (1) further exempts from the prohibited possession of hollow nose ammunition "persons engaged in activities pursuant to N.J.S.A 2C:39-6f. . . ." N.J.S.A 26:39-3f. (1). Activities contained in N.J.S.A 26:39-6f. can be broken down as follows: 1.A member of a rifle or pistol club organized under rules of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and which filed its charter with the State Police; 2.A person engaged in hunting or target practice with a firearm legal for hunting in this State; 3.A person going directly to a target range, and; 4.A person going directly to an authorized place for "practice, match, target, trap or skeet shooting exhibitions." As with other ammunition and firearms, a sportsman would have to comply with the provisions ofN.J.S.A 2C:39-6f and g when transporting hollow nose ammunition to a target range. The ammunition should be stored in a closed and fastened container or locked in the trunk of the motor vehicle in which it is being transported. The course of travel should be as direct as possible when going to and leaving from the target range with "only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances." N.J.S.A 2C:39-6g.
  4. 2.5 months in North NJ and getting nothing but a runaround from my town PD.. I'll wait 2 more weeks and then will start emailing chief, etc.. And my pistol on hold dropped $200 in value in the mean time.
  5. waiting 3 months and counting.. getting a bunch of run arounds from local PD.. one detective pointing to other and other says he is no longer doing handgun permits.. Time to write a captain or how should I escalate the request?
  6. I was told December is being processed when applying in March.. Its a standard reply, aka bolony..
  7. LaRue are tops, but you will wait a year for them to make you one..
  8. Thank You.. I order requested 1 and used it. That's a lot of paperwork and waiting time... I should have asked for 3, extra $4 wasted wouldn't be nearly as painful as going through this process. I'd assume the handgun permit would still be given for only 90 days? aka maximum of 3 guns if one times it right (1 purchase per 30 days period)?
  9. Why would I need to get fingerprinted again? I got my Firearm ID 3 months ago, did fingerprints in October 2012. Got my 1st purchase a month ago, now my 2nd purchase is waiting for me @ my FFL, thought I would just go to precinct, pay $2, get the form and bring it to FFL.. Sounds like its far from being that simple.. I really hope that since I did mental check and references very recently, I wouldnt have to go through all that again.. Can someone confirm the exact process?
  10. I was under the same situation a little while ago. my choices were: P226 9mm FN FNX45 (15 .45 acp rounds) Springfield XD(m) - you pick your caliber.. I like the compact model..
  11. I cant even reach my detective by phone... How do you guys and gals apply for handgun purchase permit? Fill out the form and drop it off @ PD or appointment is required? Question 2) Do 2 people references and mental health forms are required each time one purchases a new gun? And there is waiting period just to make that 2nd/3rd/etc purchase?
  12. thanks. What do you mean re-applying? Got ID card 3 months ago, got initial 90 day handgun purchase form.. Bought handgun 2 months ago, now looking to get another one.. filled out Applicaiton for Firearm purchase permit.. Should I have to submit mental health forms again as well? Thanks
  13. does a purchase of an additional handgun require mental health forms again?
