 Can anyone recommend a lawyer?
Hey all, Ive been waiting for my FID and PPs from my local PD for a pretty long time. I applied in mid September and haven't heard anything from them, aside from when i call to complain and get a cock-and-bull story. Its been like 20 weeks or so, so i think i might seek the help of a lawyer. Has anyone had any experience using lawyers in this capacity? Can anyone recommend one? Also, how much might something like this cost me? I assume all a lawyer would do is call the police and pester them for me...but i dont know. Anyone have any advice for me? thanks in advance

Calling doesn't do squat unless the lawyer 'knows' somebody. Sending a letter requires some sort of response... If you're a Cherry Ridge member they have a few lawyers on retainer who are gun specialists. I want to say Gary Needleman is one of them, but don't quote me. Nor can I speak from personal experience

Boomer, here's is the attorney whose services I've used in the past applying for an FID, and have no trouble recommending (I believe another board member has used him to "encourage" his local PD, as well): http://www.jackventurilaw.com/CM/Custom/jef.aspMy FID application process took around 10-12 days. The fee was either $500 or $750, I can't remember the exact figure.

I've used Gary for quite a few things. He's Good. If you're interseted PM me as some of the references I'd rather not go public.

Ditto on Gary, good guy. I've been shooting with him a few times.

If your waiting for a FID, expect to wait about 6 months. It sucks but thats how it is. If you got the spare coin to fight it, go for it, but don't expect awesome results.

I don't know about awesome results, but I'd expect things to go an order of magnitude quicker with a lawyer. As a side benefit, challenging your local PD is good for everyone, if you care about such things - it may give them pause next time they decide to delay processing another person's FID application.
