I've been asked but only because I was rear ended coming home from shooting clays. 3 shotguns in the front passenger compartment of my jeep. 2 in socks and 1 with no case, all unloaded. Cop looked at the guns and asked me if they were unloaded which I responded yes because they were. That was the end of the discussion about guns. Honestly I hope I get pulled over one day and some rookie cop decides to arrest me for legally transporting guns. I'll pull a Mr Dow and fall and break my jaw. When my lawyer is done with them I'll open the first NJGF range and you all can come and shoot for free!

Just a head's up, the recent BJ's sales circular (5/23 - 6/19) is advertising an "Extreme Savings Week" sale June 12 - 18. One of the items on sale is a Snap-on 24 gun safe for $299.99. It's a decent 30 minute fireproof safe typically selling at places like Dicks, TSC, or the box stores for $5-600. I have no interest in BJ's nor Snap-on Safe's, just saw this as a nice deal and thought I'd pass it on. Remember, there's no sales tax on gun safes

You don't have to answer that question. Politely decline any invitations to discuss what is in your vehicle.

We should set up a clay shoot for a father/kid day. Bring the kids and teach them. Smaller group as well. If we're serious about teaching our children / the next generation we need to make some of these days not about us having fun but about the joy we'll receive from teaching our children and passing down our appreciation of firearms to them.

Many of the older generation gun owners DO NOT like modern sporting rifles. They like hunting rifles and THAT IS IT. I can't wait for them to all die off.

So here I was in my early 20's and making some money now working full time after dropping out of college and about to make my 1st major car purchase. This is where my car hobby hits a turning point, and in hindsight, I make the wrong choice, but I still have no regrets... I was a car enthusiast but really just a wheelman, I enjoyed driving…. Fast and aggressive… but at this point had NO experience with getting my hands dirty working on them, and this would influence my next purchase. I was about to spend a decent about of money on this next car, so that opened up my choices..... The year…. Somewhere around 1985. Smokey and the Bandit came out in 1977 and of course influenced a lot of us car guys, me included. So one of the cars on my list was a 2nd generation Trans Am… The other car on my list was a 1969 Camaro Z/28…. And what is now a car that is valued at over $60,000+ for a clean number matching car, could be bought for low to mid teens in 1985…. Here is where I might have gone wrong. A few of my fellow car buddies reminded me that car was very temperamental to be used as a daily driver. I was told the dual point distributor would alone be a headache to keep in tune. So with my very limited technical knowledge, I removed this car from my list….. So Dad and I went car shopping, with me looking for a mid to late 70’s TransAm. On a little side note, during our shopping on car dealer row on RT22 …. I took at a 76 Corvette 4 speed… and proceeded to scare the crap out of the poor salesman…. And here is where my Father’s influence came into play….. remember, he was not a car guy… So if a 77 TransAm is nice, then a 3rd generation 1982 TransAm MUST be better…. And since this car was about to be financed by the bank of Dad, I listened. So my 3rd car was purchased, a 1982 TransAm. It was a beautiful car, but the anemic small block chevy 305 was no Pontiac 400 that I was hoping for… 160 rip roaring horsepower. Of course, I cannot leave anything stock, I proceeded to do things to this car. Custom rims were a must, and also a decent stereo. The biggest mod was having T-Roofs cut into it. Cost me $1200… and yes they leaked a little, but worth every cent. One of the other things I had done was having the rear window tinted, and at this point, not many tint guys could work with that window, it was one of the most complicated pieces of glass ever installed in a car. But I found a guy who could tint it with 3 strips vs. other tinters using many more. Most guys were just installing louvers, but I wanted to be different. The biggest problem was that these early TransAms were not very durable, and with me trying to get every ounce of those 160hp to work for me, I ended up blowing up the rear twice and that weak Turbo200 trans once…. It was a great looking car…. Rattled badly, and was slow, but I still miss it to this day…

not really.. I knew about it before I bought the gun.. paying the smallest amount of attention kept me from hitting the release.. if it becomes an issue there is a shroud that can go over it.. but I am not sure its as big of a deal as people make it sound..

gun ran really well.. way more reliable than my Saiga.. and by way more reliable.. I mean it was literally 100% reliable.. everything down to cheap Winchester ammo ran without any hesitation.. I am going to have to buy some even lighter shooting ammo to try to induce failure.. Rio Buckshot pellets center mass at 50 yards could do some more in depth testing regarding how well it patterns at distance.. first shot out of the gun was a polyshock that was just about dead center at 25 yards.. pictures once the extra parts get her.. sad to say.. almost makes me regret owning the Saiga.. mag fed is nice.. but with some practice I could see reloads being pretty quick.. the gun is also extremely fast and light.. its like 6.5lbs unloaded.. i picked it up brand new for $675 due to a discount that I get on Beretta stuff..

I was in total devastation when Cane denied the Utah CCW back when... that was my lil taste of what a gun-toting free American truly felt like... that sun felt good in my face... and working in N Philly... it came as a plus.... Since, I've learned to deny myself ... other than to hope for HR38.... But learning of NH non-res CCW... well.. here comes the sun again...

I was told the state paid someone to cut them in half long ways and then offered to sell one half to the trooper that carried it. No one seemed to take the state's offer and they then paid for them to be destroyed. Our tax dollars hard at work!

I've never been asked whether I have any guns in the vehicle, but I wonder if responding with "I don't have anything illegal in the vehicle" would fly? You're sort of evading the question, and I'm sure some officers would catch it, but as long as you're within an exemption, you're not lying. Your next step would obviously be to politely decline any requests to search you or your vehicle. The biggest thing IMO is to drive within the laws so you don't get pulled over in the first place. Then, don't give the officer probable cause, i.e. keep the inside of your car clean, and make sure your guns are cased (but not in "gun cases") or, ideally, in the trunk where s/he cannot see them.

I like this idea...Whats a good age to start my boys?? my oldest is turning 7 next month. In my heart i feel he's ready. He is smart and very responsible boy. Also very curious and loves to watch me clean my guns. He's always ready to jump in an wipe something down or pull a snake through lol.

It's funny. I see this particular comp talked about all over the place and the key theme in all the talking is it's post ban compliance. I've read in at least a half dozen other forums about it not being a flash hider and the mysterious ATF letter. On the doublestar website is even specifically mentions that it is post awb compliant in the official product description. I contacted doublestar and also MidwayUSA where I bought it and asked if they could conjure up a pdf of the letter. I don't think the ATF keeps flash hider info on the page anymore because the AWB has expired and there's no reason to keep the unnecessary documents up any more. Honestly, ya'd think something so frequently referenced would be easier to find.

Unfortunately too many of the SJW Millennials that claim to be firearms enthusiasts have no issue with 10 Round magazines and voting for Dems because the Dems will feed and cloth the poor. No BS had one on Calguns post that he was a firearms enthusiast but a Liberal Dem because Democrats care about people. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

I shot this today and the wickedness and sound has been a bit overstated vs what I've read regarding this pistol. I enjoyed it very much in both 45LC and 460 S&W. My 45 Colt hand loads shot like a .22 out this monster pistol.

There is a significant loss everytime a state agency changes weapons. NJSP and Police in general are not great handgun operators in general. Believe me. They dont want them to be used in a crime and the last known user would be a State LE agency. It has happend twice that I know of in the past. Not with the State Police but with another agency.

I don't know why you would want to do that. You might luck out and get one of the guns that work. You might get one that Sig has been unable to get to run right for sometime. Odds sound worse than a crapshoot to me. More like playing Russian Roulette with only one empty chamber. I find this amusing that all the Sig fans refuse to believe Sig might have made a batch of lemons. People here and on other forums have jumped on blaming the ammo without knowing what kind of ammo they use. I don't know of a single LE agency that uses steel case ammo. I've seen some claim this lawsuit has basis in the fact NJ is an anti gun state. The fact is NJ bought something, it didn't work, they gave the manufacturer the chance to fix it, and they didn't. As a NJ taxpayer I think one would be glad the NJAG is pursuing this rather than all those criminal cases about a single hollow point rolling around in a trunk or all those people being prosecuted for not taking the most direct way to or from a range with a handgun.

We discussed this almost exactly a year ago. https://www.njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/81268-legion-fail/&page=2#comment-1042702 NJSP use commonly used practice ammo. Nothing weird. New Brunswick had similar issues broken extractors and cracked frames with their 229s in .40 as well. They use the exact same practice and duty ammo that my agency does. NBPD were told by the Sig rep to look into the Legacy Series with the old style extractor. He said it's because it would fit their existing holsters better. When asked point blank if it was really because the new extractors were garbage the rep clammed up and got all uncomfortable.

The legality is ridiculous. I remember a few years ago a gun shop in my area sold a bunch of Benelli M4's with pistol grips. A BUNCH. They had to call the customers back to the shop and return the guns. So, anything is possible.

We usually create calibers due to under powered performance. 38 special was lacking, in comes the 357 magnum. 44 special was lacking, in comes the 44 magnum. 9mm was lacking, in comes the 10mm. But the 40S&W was created backwards. 10mm was tough on agents in the FBI due to recoil, so they downloaded it to 10mm light. Smith and Wesson in turn discovered that if they shortened the case they could replicate the ballistics with the 10mm light in a 9mm sized gun. And the 40S&W was born. My point is, the "fotey" is fine. But there are better options in other calibers.
