BTW, no one commented on this one aspect... the NJSP firearms unit rep, DSG Bloom, was quite open about saying that if you're denied for concealed carry due to inadequate "justifiable need" (your threat is deemed not bad enough, etc.) - it does NOT count against you if you try again at a later date. In fact, he was ENCOURAGING people to do just that. I think that's pretty eye-popping, don't you? I know @Smokin .50 has mentioned that idea before - getting a LARGE mass of people to apply for concealed carry all at once. Of course, the overwhelming majority would get denied... revealing the TRUE nature of NJ's scheme... and showing that justifiable need is merely a ruse to deny 2A rights to ordinary citizens who don't have political connections. With DSG Bloom's statement (on tape, no less!) - where's the risk? Maybe the time is drawing near to do that exact plan...?? I would imagine the best strategy would be to get one of the 2A groups to pledge their legal support in advance and to have a class action lawsuit all drawn up and ready-to-go once the inevitable denials have rolled in. Just an observation!

An article was published attacking two of our speakers and their respective organizations by name, and insinuating collusion with another who is widely assumed to be another of our speakers (basically gossip dressed up as scandal). There were a couple of folks with questions that prompted a response to those attacks, which out of context might have felt like attacks themselves. The decision for me in allowing the question to open the door was in terms of "do we address it and then move on or do we ignore it and allow it to fester without reply?" I chose the former.

I'm no fan of Scott Bach, but his explanation seemed reasonable to me yesterday. I guess we'll find out more when he talks about it on Gun For Hire radio. NJ2AS seemed to own this issue from the get-go when they took up their cause with their attorney's actions/threats and challenges to the council/mayor. Did they try to involve ANJRPC/NRA? How closely was NJ2AS working with the private developer in this? Possession in nine-tenths of the law. If you decide to "own" the issue and initiative, I'm not sure you can really blame someone else when it comes up short. Anyway, the link above comes across as petty and short on facts on the actual who's to blame.

This was my first time at NJ SAFE, and overall I thought it was good (thanks John!). I can't speak for my brother or father, but there's a good chance I'll attend next year's event (assuming there will be one, of course). Some breakdown of each main section: The NRA Marksmanship program will give me something new to do at the range. I'm not sure why I didn't already know about this, but I guess I can't know everything. It was great to hear from DSG Bloom and how they are working to improve the FID/P2P system. It would be wonderful if they can eliminate or minimize the township/barracks involvement with an online system. It might actually be less of a pain! The community building discussion panel was interesting, but I wish there was a bit more of it. As much as I liked hearing everyone's intros, some took quite a bit longer than others and it didn't leave enough time to hear from the panel. Facing threats to our freedom, property, and identity was okay. It started off good with April's section, but after that it kind of felt like commercials. Of course, when you figure how much an event like this costs to put on vs entry fees, we should expect some of that. Admittedly though, I was getting hungry at this point, so my opinion may have been skewed by constantly wondering "what's for lunch?". Hearing from NRA lobbyist Darin Goens was good. It's nice to know that my emails to our legislature actually do something. Maybe the NRA/ANJRPC should periodically have us send mass emails to the legislature and shut down their server to remind them we exist? It sounded like Schmutter could have gone on for quite some time. This was good for me, as someone who wants carry, but might have been over a newer person's head. I could sense my brother and father kind of getting antsy. The election discussion panel was interesting, but quickly devolved into putting Scott on the stand about the Ramsey range. While I can see how people would side with NJ2AS on this issue (they are making headlines and "getting stuff done"), Scott's answer left me with the impression that NRA and ANJRPC are playing chess, while NJ2AS is playing checkers. Also, it was a little awkward having the Libertarian candidate there, when we all know our best chance to stop Murphy, like it or not, is with Kim. I enjoyed Cam's keynote. Admittedly, Virginia is/was one of the places I have been looking to relocate to, and now I'm questioning whether it should be on the short list or not. Evan Nappen is pretty much always great, and he didn't disappoint.

As expected it was an excellent conference. Very lively discussions. The attorney presentations were great (Daniel Schmutter could have passionately talked for hours - and was fascinating). Anthony was even well behaved. The diversity panel was very interesting (I have to buy a Black Guns Matter orange sweatshirt like Maj was wearing). NJSP FIrearm Unit DSG Bloom (and NRA Life Member) was back to answer questions. And as Scott mentioned those NRA-ILA emails we send do have a large impact so everyone should be doing it. And of course Loretta got her boos and hisses at the mere mention of her name! Next year we need more people to turn out for this event! Come on guys and gals, it is just one day per year. A big thanks to John for putting on the event (and you did great speaking to the group).

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I thought this was a very cool glimpse into the mind of a true gunfighter. https://www.opsgearDOTcom/blogs/opsgear-blog/wyatt-earp-interview-on-gunfighting

True, having only been exposed to guns for less than 2 years, I haven't seen all that some of you have seen... haven't experienced all of your understandable legislative disappointments. That said, in my career, I have worked with several non-profits both large and small and I feel I have a handle on how they're staffed (can you say "shoestring?"), what they can accomplish by themselves, and what they can't. From my perspective, if you're "waiting" for the NRA or ANJRPC to do something that will knock your socks off - you're already dead in the water. Grassroots organizations thrive and succeed when their membership is large, fully engaged, responsive and downright feisty - it's the members that do the heavy lifting - always! As someone else noted, the NRA sends you alerts - making it abundantly easy to make yourself heard by legislators. But, how many of you actually send the email? How many of you actively participate in campaigning for 2A candidates (even informally, amongst your own social circle)? How many of you make it a personal goal to regularly bring guests to the range? How many of you signed up for the conference? (One benefit was hearing about other activities to steer your guests to). I've no doubt some of you do all of that and more. I also have a sneaking suspicion that some of you who complain the loudest do none of those things! There's an estimated 800,000 to 1 mill gun owners in NJ. How many do you think are ACTIVELY engaged in 2A issues? I'm guessing it's no more than a few percent, if that. That's your problem right there IMO. The problem isn't that on occasion some of these orgs will disagree on the best approach to a particular issue. Stop blaming the non-profit orgs... and blame the gun owners who either refuse to join - or - they join but then wash their hands of responsibility because they think sending in the membership fee was "enough" personal sacrifice and so they don't pull their weight in any other meaningful way. Honestly, I think every soldier in the history of this country that died protecting our rights must be rolling over in his grave to see how those rights are being encroached upon today... and how unwilling we are to really fight to save them.

It was a good conference again overall and John did a great job as always. The Libertarian candidate was awkward on the election panel I kind of felt the conference could have been compacted a bit since I got there at 9AM not knowing the agenda so there was a bit of free time. Solid move bringing a cigar vendor in so I got to smoke a few while enjoying the sunshine. But, it would have been nice to get out earlier and enjoy the weather.

If the position is to remain underground and invisible as to never surface, except when asking for money, they are doing a bang-up job. I have heard this line before, about how they are 'working behind the scenes' with so called legislators or some such. Funniest joke was how they proclaimed some HUGE victory for CCW in NJ when Christie changed the rules slightly regarding verified threats. Has there been some increase--ANY increase at all in CCW permits issued in NJ? Anyone? Bueller? I am sure you will be treated to more tales and pleas for money of how ANJRPC and NRA are fighting for your rights in NJ next year, when the Hillary Clinton/Murphy Steamroller of Revenge gives you mandatory registration, ammo purchase limits, confiscation, home inspection, week long courses at your expense to even touch a gun, etc.

Granted, I probably haven't been around these issues as long as you... but I really didn't see it that way! If you're referring to that one criticism offered by Scott Bach (which sounded as though it may have some legitimacy BTW)... well, he was answering a very specific, pointed question by someone in the audience. If he really believes that the actions of another 2A group made a situation MORE difficult --- for a prospective range owner --- he has the right to state that opinion. (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's offered that criticism privately in the past and been ignored). Besides, that was maybe TWO negative minutes out of a multi-hour conference during which speakers where overwhelmingly cooperative and in lockstep. I agree. And SMART too! Gotta pull in new faces from all communities.

Hi Everyone I just Read the article in the Political report in Shooting Illustrated about The July ruling By the US Court Of Appeals that found DC's "good reason" to be granted a CCW unconstitutional. Wouldn't the conflicting rulings between the DC Federal Court and the Jersey District Federal court force the SCOUS to a hearing to resolve the conflict? This is old news from back in July I'm just hearing about now. If its already been discussed please direct me to the thread. Thanks

Yep. Sal's pizza is a 1 minute walk. 7-11 is right there as well. Chinese place right on other side of highway. Lol. I expected that. I'm a fan of ales. The peaches are from a local farmer we know so that's why I chose it. It's not sweet at all (thankfully). Only get a slight peach flavor at the very end.

GOLDEN PEACH ALE... WTF has this world come to.

They don't have food but from what I read of the reviews they allow you to bring in food. Apparently there is a pizza place right around the corner that is good.

I shot an IDPA match yesterday at Lower Providence Gun Club (near where the Oaks Gun Show is held) and they had a new feature that was pretty cool. This club uses Practiscore for their total match management. Everything from registering and taking payment to publishing of the final results. Yesterday a new feature was used - instant upload of scores with subsequent e-mails to the shooter. Real time results. As soon as you are scored it is uploaded to Practiscore and they generate an e-mail to the shooter with full results - points down, penalties, hits on non-threats etc, etc, and your final score for that stage. The shooter does not need to do anything to activate this feature. It works off the match registration. This is almost instantaneous. By the time that you finish shooting and come off the line, the e-mail is in your in-box. Especially fun for those who have private rivalries going on. Pretty nifty feature and I hope that other clubs in the area, that use Practiscore, will take advantage of it. Adios, Pizza Bob

The citori just fits ...sorry. It's like shoes... if you buy the cheaper shoes you get a blister and your whole day is shot and now you have shoes you don't wear. Same thing

Thanks for the full review! Completely valid criticism. I would like to be clear that no one can pay to be on stage. I did offer that the first year, and did not like the results. I make all decisions about content based on my interest and what I think would be valuable for the folks attending. Some of them were absolutely more "pitchy" than I intended. I agree the community panel should have been longer based on our panelists, we had a late addition after the schedule was largely locked in. I try to ensure that there is content that is stimulating for folks with different levels of interest or expertise.

When I moved to Tx, the mover and I did an inventory of all my guns rifles and shottys and he shipped with the furniture. Just can't ship ammo. The mover will check to make sure the guns are cleared Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Where does all this paranoia cone from? Your quoted idea will cost you transfer fees and shipping fees. Save the transfer fees and just ship them to yourself as PK90 says. Who is moving your stuff? I'm sure you're not moving with just a couple of suitcases. Movers can legally move guns for you. I don't know how many guns you have but flying them there can get pretty expensive. I've gone through Newark lots of times with no problems. If that concerns you fly out of Philadelphia. I know you don't want to but the easiest option is just to drive. Transport the guns IAW FOPA. When I've moved with guns I've always just taken them in my car.

If anyone attended NJSAFECON yesterday they would have heard a "lively" discussion with Scott Bach explaining the NRA position. It is rarely what it appears to be on the surface.

IMHO, neither organization really gives two shits about our fundamental 2A rights here. They make more money collecting for their (pitiable) lobbying efforts. After all, we are the whipping boys of the 2A community here in the USA. An example of what the rest of the nation may become if you don't send them your hard earned money. <rant off>

I completely agree that the majority of the conference was excellent. It was just sad that we spend the entire time saying how we need to stand together to defeat Phil Murphy and then we attack our own. I'm satisfied as to the explanation given by Scott as to why he felt it was the wrong play and why the NRA wasnt getting involved but I couldn't help but notice how many of the presented "facts" were presented in a way to make a party who wasn't there and unable to respond look bad. Overall, a great array of people showed up for 2A education. That's awesome and I hope that this continues to grow. Probably the highlight of the day was the "New Germany" Freudian slip made by one of the speakers. I think everyone had a good laugh.

I'm sorry to hear of Bob's experience but not totally surprised. I live not too far from them (TTC). I was very excited when they opened. Way before they or I joined this forum I went there on a Saturday morning. There were 2 or 3 other customers there, all wanting to shoot. The only employees I saw were two blond haired women. It was very dark and eerily quiet. All of the customers were quietly on line at the ammo window being served by the person there. I made the other person walking the floor aware I was in need of help, When she found I was there to shoot she handed me a paper and pointed in a general direction to watch an ongoing continuous running video while I filled out my paper. On the surface this doesn't sound too bad. But the entire atmosphere was, as Bob put it best, not impolite or rude, but the atmosphere was rather chilly. I walked out with my paperwork and never went back. I don't need to be hugged or coddled. But I do work hard for my money. When I'm going to give up $30.00/hr to a business I do expect some level of respect and gratitude deserved as a customer. Not made to feel as though I'm in the way or interrupting, doing them a favor or someone's coffee break. I've remained silent all this year because of the rave reviews fellow forum members have given this new range and felt maybe it was an off day for all of us involved - just an isolated incident. But hearing more word of mouth and reading more in this forum, I now feel it's important to share. $30.00/hr may be average fees and such treatment may be par for our state but our sport needs as much boosting as possible. Not a condescending treatment in a dark atmosphere. Am I a snob? Maybe, but as I said I work hard for my money and I feel I'm entitled to be picky about where and how its spent.

Wow - pretty disappointing. I'm a member there and I enjoy shooting at their range. It's definitely too small to do anything but plink and have fun with a rifle, but the fact that they bragged about 50bmg and then wont let anyone is false advertising. I've recommended the range to a few people and told them that very story, that they can accommodate a 50 if they wanted to. I do get the sense they have some growing pains there and are a bit disorganized or disinterested in people for anything beyond their money.

Arsenal guns have reputation for having a finish that doesn't stand up too well to the more aggressive cleaners. I've used SLIP 2000 and M-Pro 7 on my mine and never had a problem with any of the finish coming off during cleaning. The only spot that I've ever seen any (very very minor) bubbling is right around the gas block on my SAM7. I've kept an eye on it since I first noticed it and it hasn't gotten any worse or spread (after putting another ~500+ rounds through it)
